Floyd has the better technique, reminds me of Hopkins, but Floyd fights even more cautious. I think defensively he's up there with Whitaker and Pep, but he hasn't found his Saddler yet the closest being Castillo. Roy was just one of a kind and didn't need technique because he was that good and got away with alot of things like fighting with his hands down. I'd give the edge to RJ.

Roy Jones, by quite some way.

Floyd hasnt fought Roy's level of opponent and Roy is a freak.

It just depends on what you look for in a fighter....

Mayweather obviously has more textbook skill, a defensive wizard, and also is very athletically gifted. Mayweather's style will compliment him fighting after his prime much more than Jones' did.

Jones didn't have textbook skill like Mayweather, but didn't need it when he was prime. Jones broke the rules because he was so gifted and fast and could get away with it and that was very exciting to see.

I believe it is like comparing apples to oranges... It is preference.

at the end of the day they both participated in the same sport and the question is who was better at it in his prime?

In my opinion I would say Roy Jones, but i was trying to get at that an argument can easily be made for both being as how they both showed amazing talent, but were very different fighters.
