I wasn't referring to yours in particular as the influence, but more of a congregate of every list done in the thread (primarily by the more respected posters it would seem). It appears me and McGrain were the only ones to have noticed this, which is made quite obvious by the fact that she's usually the last to post her list in these threads.

I'm sure I'll be banned now....

Most have no criteria to speak of.

    I hope not!

The only lists that aren't some kind of a loose congregate of other Classic lists are the ones done by guys with dizzy criteria or guys who really don't know their history.

I disagree a bit. I think most people have criterias. I also think most people just don´t know enough about some or many of the fighters that should be considered to apply those criterias objectivly and correctly and thus their lists dont match their criterias. Not even talking about personal bias. Aside of that every list is subjective in the end, regardless of criteria.

You weren't the only to notice, just the only one to say anything. I do think I've noticed this in these top 10 (Insert weight-class) threads before, Still all presumptions either way.

What mainstream P4P rankings have you seen aside from Ring that has a criteria? There ain't many. Most are polls -even the IBRO has a poll. I believe that the Associated Press has one too that is a damn popularity contest. Trainers' lists are more often silly than not. Kellerman's, Sugars, the list goes on.

Stonehands, I really dont look into lists much at all. There is about 5 guys who could be considered number 1 without argument and then after that there is another 20 guys on the same tier, so why put them over each other, when most agree they are equal.

Okay, you are right here. Polls are a dumb way to I thought we were talking about the people in this thread though.

Out in the real world any 4 of those 5 guys would lucky to make the top 20. Otherwise, I'd argue -strenuously- that some lists are better than others. Of all places, ESB Classic should strive to come up with intelligent lists and correct/rebuke/ATTACK those lists that are goofy -especially those circulated 'out there.'

I don't much care for relativism except when it comes to things like ice cream flavors.

I agree that the people who are in the running should be placed appropriately and anyone that does forget them, or does not know them, should be 'educated' on them.

In the classic I would say most of the lists include guys that deserve it, but you could have so many different variations of them, that it makes them look completely different. So yeh, attack the 'goofy' lists and get the top fighters recognition and respect.

And I'd agree with you and Bodhi that almost all of the lists on this forum are respectable.
