I don't ever read much of ring magazine, but do they only do top 10 p4p? Not anything higher? Anyways, if anyone would have a list of your own personal top 20,30,40 whatever p4p, post em. Im interested in reading them.
I guess no one wants to get criticized on their list.. I guess I'll be the first to post my top 20.. I know I'll probably get **** for my rankings, but hey, no one else is posting theirs.. I'm also bored with nothing to do so what the hell.. I could be biased on my list with Mayweather gone from #1, but I'll stay unbiased here.. 01. Floyd Mayweather 02. Manny Pacquiao 03. Joe Calzaghe 04. Miguel Cotto 05. Juan Marquez 06. Bernard Hopkins 07. Israel Vazquez 08. Rafael Marquez 09. Ivan Calderon 10. Kelly Pavlik 11. Cristian Mijares 12. Mikkel Kessler 13. Arthur Abraham 14. Wladimir Klitschko 15. Antonio Margarito 16. Ricky Hatton 17. David Haye 18. Chad Dawson 19. Shane Mosley 20. Chris John 21. Joshua Clottey 22. Joan Guzman 23. Lucian Bute 24. Nonito Donaire 25. Steve Molitor I think it's pretty fair..
Not a bad list by any means. Mine goes (from what I remember): 1) PBF 2) Pac 3) JC 4) Cotto 5) JMM 6) Vazquez 7) Mijares 8) Guzman 9) Marquez 10) Pavlik 11) Calderon 12) Wlad 13) BHop 14) John 15) Kess 16) Haye 17) Montiel 18) JDiaz 19) Cunningham 20) Dawson This is off the top of my head and is probably off from my actual list, but I figured what the hell
I had thought at some point of posting a bunch of polls on ESB in this style: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=54601 http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=53900 http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=53697 http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45136 http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=46460 i figured that with enough of these polls i could establish a general consensus esb p4p list but i got lazy. The fighters that i was gonna involve were, in no particular order Floyd Pac Calz Cotto JMM Kessler Haye Shane Mosley Jorge Linares Vlad Hopkins Chris John Ricky Hatton Lucian Bute Steve Molitor Joachim Alcine Cristian Mijares Chad Dawson Israel Vasquez Kelly Pavlik Nonito Donaire Rafa Marquez Joan Guzman Jermain Taylor Wright Cory Spinks Nate Campbell Oscar Calderon Juan Diaz Arthur Abraham Antonio Margarito Steve Cunningham
1. Mayweather (barely) 2. Calzaghe 3. Pacquiao 4. JM Marquez 5. Vasquez 6. Cotto 7. Mijares 8. Calderon 9. R Marquez 10. Dawson 11. Haye 12. Guzman 13. Montiel 14. Kessler 15. Pavlik 16. Campbell 17. Abraham 18. Mosley 19. Casamayor 20. Forrest Probably some bad ommisions, but it's late and I'm tired :|
Most lists are good, though Calderon has done nothing to be considered top 15 calibre, considering the very poor opposition level. Even if you ranked him highly H2H, he's slipping from his prime. It's unfair he's regarded higher than more deserving fighters. I'd have him somewhere around 20. And Cunningham, give me a break! Not even top 25.
It'd probably be like this.. 01. Calzaghe 02. Mijares 03. Gamboa ..and so on Calderon is an excellent fighter and is the best tech fighter right now, IMO.. He might not have power, but he will beat you convincingly..
Mine would be something along the lines of - 1 - VACANT 2 - Floyd Mayweather/Manny Pacqauio 3 - Joe Calzaghe 4 - JMM 5 - Miguel Cotto 6 - Israel Vasquez 7 - Cristian Mijares 8 - Rafael Marquez 9 - David Haye 10 - Joan Guzman 11 - Mikkel Kessler 12 - Kelly Pavlik 13 - Fernando Montiel 14 - Shane Mosely 15 - Chad Dawson 16 - Nate Campbell 17 - Nonito Donaire 18 - Vernon Forrest 19 - Wladimir Klitschko 20 - Ivan Calderon 21 - Arthur Abraham 22 - Bernard Hopkins 23 - Sergey Dzinziruk 24 - Juan Diaz 25 - Ricky Hatton 26 - Steve Molitor 27 - Joachim Alcine 28 - Steve Cunningham 29 - Tomasz Adamek 30 - Antonio Tarver ........... I just feel it's incorrect to rank someone like Calderon over guys who are not only better, but have done more. Some of mine would be questionable, like Forrest, but I rank on H2H and accomplishment. #1 is vacant because Floyd is doing nothing this year and Pac didn't get the win over Marquez, so I have them tied up. Which ever top fighter in that running gets a serious win, gets the top spot. Margarito doesn't even belong in the top 30, I just saw that, that is absurd. I try to give mention to good talents who have gained good wins that go underlooked because the establishment won't recognise them.
