I'll make my current list in a bit, my other one was filled with problems due to unresolved matches. But Calderon doesn't even belong in the top 15, much less top 10, people just post him there due to heresay.
So you don't think Calderon's top 10 material nor you don't like me having him ranked above Mijares.. Who cares? It's my own list.. Make a list of your own and go by that.. I happen to think Calderon is one of the most skilled fighters in boxing today and it isn't his fault there isn't that much competition around his division.. He's 5 ****in' foot so he can't really move up in weight without giving up a lot of height advantage.. He's reckonized by a lot of people as a top p4p fighter as well by The Ring.. Just because you think Calderon isn't top 10 material doesn't make it wrong..
Top 30 Pound-for-Pound: 1. Floyd Mayweather Jr. 2. Manny Pacquiao 3. Joe Calzaghe 4. Miguel Cotto 5. Juan Manuel Marquez 6. Kelly Pavlik 7. Israel Vasquez 8. Cristian Mijares 9. Rafael Marquez 10. Bernard Hopkins 11. Wladimir Klitschko 12. Shane Mosley 13. Jorge Linares 14. Ivan Calderon 15. Chad Dawson 16. David Haye 17. Ricky Hatton 18. Tomasz Adamek 19. Joan Guzman 20. Chris John 21. Oscar Dela Hoya 22. Arthur Abraham 23. Ronald Wright 24. Jermain Taylor 25. Steve Cunningham 26. Nonito Donaire 27. Mikkel Kessler 28. Cory Spinks 29. Joachim Alcine 30. Steve Molitor
Firstly, if you watched his last fight you would know he is not a P4P fighter yet (I say yet because he is still fairly young). Dzinziruk fought to a 50/50 controversial decision with Lukas Konecny, a fringe contender at 154 lbs (probably somewhere around #300 P4P). Secondly, Dzinziruk has a pretty undefeated record and fought well in his title winning effort against an older Santos, but if you actually watched him fight you would know that he does not belong in the top 40 pound-for-pound. On resume, he also does not belong in the top 40 pound-for-pound. Hell, he is 35-0 yet boxrec's computer ranks him at #8 in his own weak division (behind 29-3 Jamie Moore)! As I said he is young and can change for the better, but simply not there yet is the verdict for Dzinziruk.
Here's mine, taking both accomplishments an H2H into account: 1) Joe Calzaghe 2) Manny Pacquiao 3) Miguel Cotto 4) Izzy Vasquez 5) Juan Manuel Marquez 6) Kelly Pavlik 7) Cristian Mijares 8 ) Rafael Marquez 9) Wladimir Klitschko 10) David Haye 11) Bernard Hopkins 12) Mikkel Kessler 13) Arthur Abraham 14) Ricky Hatton 15) Paul Williams 16) Ivan Calderon 17) Jermain Taylor 18 ) Chris John 19) Nonito Donaire 20) Fernando Montiel 21) Antonio Margarito 22) Steve Molitor 23) Chad Dawson 24) Joan Guzman 25) Shane Mosley 26) Lucian Bute 27) Tomasz Adamek 28 ) Jorge Linares 29) Steve Cunningham 30) Juan Manuel Lopez
He isn't top 10 material. It IS his fault, he didn't face the 2nd best minimum in the world at the time and is electing to fight the limited Cazares again in a rematch, he will likely not fight Solis or anyone else. It's not his fault it's a limited set of divisions, but that doesnt take away the fact that it's a limited set of divisions, how is that not clear? Not to mention, he's a limited fighter. It's ludicris to rank him top 10 P4P when there isn't even a B+ level fighter for him to face, and he struggles with the likes of Cazares.
I like youre list, thought I was bold for ranking WK at eleven! Kessler is much too high, Margarito is perhaps a bit high, but other than that it's a pretty respectable list.
Kessler was a tough one to rank for me. He was a unified titleholder in one of the deepest weight classes in the sport, dominated everyone but Calzaghe on Joe's turf, and I rank him high on the H2H aspect. At the end, that offset not having a deeper resume although I can completely understand someone dropping him because of that.
I see. For me he showed lot of weaknesses in the H2H aspect recently (not being able to press/finish limited fighters until the desperately late stages , getting intimidated by Calzaghe's pressure mid-fight, being too robotic, being predictable, inability to adapt), but on the other hand, he has very solid basics, an expert jab, and good power, so it is a subjective call. Agreed that on the resume front Kessler does not deserve a top 15 rating at all.
Glad I didn't spend more than 10 minutes on that one... 1. Manny Pacquiao 2. Joe Calzaghe 3. Israel Vazquez 4. Juan Manuel Marquez 5. Miguel Cotto 6. Rafael Marquez 7. Mikkel Kessler 8. David Haye 9. Bernard Hopkins 10. Christian Mijares 11. Joan Guzman 12. Kelly Pavlik 13. Shane Mosley 14. Fernando Montiel 15. Lucian Bute 16. Joachim Alcine 17. Nate Campbell 18. Chad Dawson 19. Wladimir Klitschko 20. Juan Diaz 21. Arthur Abraham 22. Ricky Hatton 23. Steve Cunningham 24. Ivan Calderon 25. Nonito Donaire 26. Steve Molitor 27. Takefumi Sakata 28. Sergei Dzindziruk 29. Jermain Taylor 30. Winky Wright
Best looking list I seen in this thread. I agree with it about 98%. I would have Haye inside the top 15, and I don't think Linares should be top 15. His best win is a shot Larios...but great list.:good
Sandman.... Miranda at 28 and Juan Diaz is out?? Diaz unified 3 belts at 135, was a fighter of the year candidate, and only has one defeat on his record. Most people had him right below top 10 P4P right before the Campbell fight. No way Miranda should be ahead of Diaz.
