  2. I think teaching is a problem.

    Then again, you are forced to work under the parameters of the rules of the sport - obviously fighters start as amateurs, which rewards flurring and running rather than landing hard shots and hurting your opponent.

    Hence the ''needs to learn a pro style'', which generally takes a dozen fights. Usually it wouldn't be a problem if they fought regularly, but these days it takes about seven years, by which time the lads are on the way down.

    Fighters like Gavin will be on the precipice by the time they reach the top of domestic level, when realistically he has enough talent and natural ability to be European champion at worst already.
