Both the main and co-main event ("Pokemón" Farías vs. "El Flaco" Ahumada y "El Correntino" Benítez vs. "Zorrito" Córdoba) are 10-rounders for Latino belts: the former with the WBC at cruiser and the latter with the WBO at lightweight on the line.

Córdoba is a late sub for Sebastián Ezequiel "El Rosárino" Aguirre.

Pokemón Farías is a year Ahumada's junior but has the vastly greater quantity, time, and quality of pro experience. (debuting three years earlier - over a decade ago, with nine more fights and consistently tougher opposition faced).

He is cagier & more resilient but also lighter hitting than is the very tall southpaw.

    Round 1

Farías is rolling his right hand over the top behind a feel-out left jab from a guarded crouch leaning forward. Ahumada is just whipping in straight lefts, barely set up by a perfunctory right jab. Farías is able to dive in through Ahumada's wild straight flurries and clutch onto the sides of his chest to initiate a clinch and calm the proceedings down. Ahumada catches him above the bridge of the nose with a wild left cross as Farías is hunching forward for another dive inside, and Farías is sat back on the seat of his pants. Up and jabbing at mid-range until the bell, not seriously hurt.

    10-8 Ahumada

    Round 2

Farías is bowling in body shots and ignoring the wild right jab & left uppercut salvos of Ahumada, who initially tries commanding the center of the ring but is forced to cede ground as Farías keeps tanking in behind a high guard with his chin down & gut sucked in and buttocks thrust out behind him so he is folded up in the middle to provide minimal target. Farías starts to really drill the right hands straight into Ahumada's long torso, and bring up left hooks when the arms lower instinctively. Ahumada sat involuntarily on the ropes for a few tense moments. Farías is pressing the attack - until Ahumada scores with another wild clubbing left as they're disentangling from a clinch, then another one as he keeps Farías' arms trapped with his right glove, and Farías goes to a knee by the ropes!! Ahumada with a three-point turnaround just before the bell!

    10-8 Ahumada

    20-16 Ahumada

Honestly take away the knockdowns and this would be a pretty clear 20-18 Farías. Kind of a crazy fight (but then both of these guys are known for unpredictable, dirty, crazy dust-ups at domestic level...three DQ losses between them.

    Round 3

Ahumada is lumping his right jab out into Farías' brow at long range. Farías is cautious, jabbing at waist height on Ahumada (or, straight out from his own chest, which I'm noticing is carrying a good deal of flab on it...Pokemón rocking moobs...) and not deigning to get close lest Ahumada crack him with a whipping roundhouse left. Ahumada does try a few even with Farías outside his range, and grazes the hairline a bit at best. Very little offensively by Farías.

10-9 Ahumada, first legit round in which he outboxed Farías, although mostly because Pokemón looks dispirited after falling into a four point hole off the bat.

    30-25 Ahumada

    Round 4

Farías is jabbing in busily, varying altitudes to give Ahumada different looks and snapping as best he can - but the starch is gone from his jab, along with 90% of its speed (not that he was Pernell Whitaker to begin with) and he's blowing hard. Ahumada meanwhile is relaxing on the outside, comfortably switching his stance every half minute from southpaw to orthodox and back, using either lead glove to double jabs into Farías' face and then jumping in to club at him with the rear hand. Farías caught with a three-piece and backed into a corner, clinching afterward. Farías now throwing line drive rights behind the left jab falling in, eating counter lefts shoveled into his face as Ahumada easily backpedals to safety.

    10-9 Ahumada

    40-34 Ahumada

The unofficial TyC Sports commentators' scorecard has it 40-34 Ahumada.

    Round 5

Farías is clinching like mad now, exhausted. Ahumada is wrenching his long arms free, trotting in reverse about halfway across the ring, just floating southpaw jabs for Farías to impale himself on blundering in, and crashing left uppercuts into the side of his neck once he finds a spot he wants to fortify. Ahumada is sticking out his right elbow, bent at a sharp angle toward Farías, and whipping left uppercuts past it. Farías is bowing his way in and pushing a jab into Ahumada's chest. Ahumada pries him off with a two-armed shove but converts it into a double-pumped left hand in the eyes. Farías goes to all fours and rides out the count, totally discouraged and, I'm now noticing, pretty badly swollen around the left eye.

    KO5!!

Ahumada leads Farías around the ring, holding onto his wrist to raise his glove in the air while encouraging the crowd to give him some respectful applause. Classy move.

Passing of the torch (even though, again, Ahumada is technically the chronologically older man) from one B+ Argentinian (domestically, more like B- or C+ by world class standards) warrior to another.
