Apparently the lightweight co-feature already took place. :dunno

Germán Argentino Benítez lost his WBO Latino belt to Carlos Daniel Córdoba via UD...barely. Córdoba was down once and docked a point, with a final score array of 95-93x2 and 96-94½.

Based on the fact that he's on the same card and hailing from the same hometown of Junín, I'm going to assume that unbeaten "Apple" Farías is the little brother of Pokemón...although his career is more on the upward bent, coming in with a 10-0 record despite being just seventeen months younger.

"Jay-Jay" Vargas is a Dominican by way of birth, yet has taken residence in & fought in Argentina for his entire career.

    Round 1

Farías is playing with fire, ducking in front of Vargas and coming up swinging blindly. In the earliest exchanges both are mostly missing, but Vargas is starting to take aim more carefully and his misses are nearer the target. Farías starts to circle out by the ropes and prods Vargas on the chest with a cheeky jab before bringing an overhand right to bear - and gets caught with a smashing flurry punctuated by a left hook on the button that drops him like a sack of rocks. He gets up and circles rapidly, flurrying at mid-range and then working in to clinch and deliver some rabbit punches. Vargas starts to respond in kind with his own rough stuff including elbows inside.

    10-8 Vargas

Oh man, I wasn't kidding...it turns out yet a third brother, Marcelo Alejandro Farías, was dropped twice and lost a UD in a middleweight 6-rounder on the card opener against German Ignacio Peralta. :shakehead:

Three brothers losing on the same night has to be, if not a record, an extreme count-'em-on-a-single-hand rarity, no?

    Round 2

Farías is bringing it to Vargas now, applying very sloppy and dirty but nonetheless effective pressure - thumping his chest with rights and then shoving him against the ropes to smother him. Vargas can't get off with more than a single blow at once, as Farías steps (literally) on his toes and grinds into him, then flails at the body and whacks up top with a windmilling right grazing the jawline.

    10-9 Farías

    19-18 Vargas

    Round 3

Farías is the one initiating most of the wrestling but then violently shaking loose and looking at the ref as if to entreat intervention for Vargas clinging to him (after Farías has grabbed & ragdolled him). Vargas seems a tad bewildered, and is caught by a few wild looping shots that send him backing up in a panic. Farías is now holding & hitting regularly, and hitting on the break without any warnings from the ref. Vargas getting mauled in there, and there's very little oversight as only about half of what Farías is doing is legal.

    10-9 Farías

    28-28

The unofficial TyC Sports commentators' scorecard has it 28-28½ in favor of Vargas, giving Farías the last two (but the second was a 10-9.5 instead of a 10-9)

    Round 4

Farías is scrabbling in, face down, arms akimbo, and in the horse blinders of that mindset, missing wildly in an exchange on the ropes, is caught with a looping right and dropped. Vargas tries to build some momentum up now, trotting around at mid-range, straightening up and putting some steel into his spine and extra bounce in his step, trying to find a rhythm while projecting confidence and also keeping himself poised & ready to defend...but Farías is stirring up such a chaotic melee there really is no defending against the asteroid storm of leather. Huge right scores for Farías in another frantic duck and shoot exchange, and the crowd roars in approval.

    10-8 Vargas

    38-36 Vargas

    Round 5

Farías is going full-on dirty SOB again, and the ref permits it all. Farías holding and wailing on Vargas, performing complete revolutions with his right while leaving his left enmeshed with Vargas' guard. Farías is propelling himself in after bouncing in place momentarily to gain a head of steam, and strapping right hands against Vargas' mouth before grabbing him and yanking him around in the pocket, then pummeling his body or leveraging off slightly to wind up windmill rights. Vargas doing his best just to keep pace with half of Farías' output, most of his energy concentrated on freeing himself from (and defending himself in) clinches.

    10-9 Farías

    47-46 Vargas

    Round 6

They are slugging it out and Farías is getting the best of it. Vargas is chopping with the right hand behind his jab but Farías is jumping in on him, throwing lefts and rights at the face with abandon. Farías is cutting the proverbial rug around Vargas, flitting side to side and then barreling in, letting the leather fly even as he gets caught with a solid blow for every 2 or 3 he grazes with, his swollen eyes getting worse by the second.

    10-9 Farías

    56-56

Walkout bout, not listed on BoxRec*:

Juan Burgos vs. Enzo Herrera, 3 rounds @ 75kg

(*because it is an amateur contest, as the duration & weight limit were a dead giveaway of even before they showed the fighters in the ring wearing headgear & shirts)
