He said no to May 5th, that doesn't mean he and Broner can't work something out.

Broner could be enticed to fly out to Lancashire if the money was right (and he isn't exactly in a position to be super picky right now, with his desired rematch brushed under the rug for now and still coming directly off a brutal and somewhat humiliating loss himself)

Now, as for Khan vs. Angulo, that is a sensible bit of matchmaking right now.

Angulo is coming off beating a name to help market him yet is no more (but also not really less) dangerous than Julio Diaz. Khan should be able to outrace Angulo to a wide decision if he minds his P's and Q's. He won't be stopping Angulo except with an especially lousy British stoppage of Calzaghe vs. Manfredo proportions. It really would be either Khan UD or Angulo KO, and Khan's fight to lose where he only needs to stay focused, use his quicker feet and hands, and not rumble. So for him, it means a chance to look good at home and vicariously bask in some of Angulo's shine for the Cano "upset". For Angulo, it means a payday serving as tangible reward for his professionalism, game plan and preparedness in upsetting Cano...without having to be a sacrificial lamb to Matthysse.

...and before anybody gives any grief over Angulo being "a blown up lightweight, not a welter! :|" - guess what? So is Julio Diaz...and Khan himself for that matter, and Cano for that matter. So are most welterweights for that matter.

elchivito is right - we are living in a time when all but a select few top welters took a long climb there (Brook, Thurman, Porter, Berto, Soto Karass, Cintron, Zaveck, Belaev and Collazo being the only names in the top forty who never campaigned at lower weights)

This would be like a reverse Passion of the Christ.

Here, the guy named Jesus would get to make someone else bleed out like crazy.

...I don't understand how Cano is still rated #15 by the WBC at light welterweight. :?

It has been twenty months - almost two full years now, four bouts in a row - since he last competed there.

I'd been hoping that maybe Angulo would be able to piggyback off his "upset" and either climb or enter their rankings...but with Cano rated @ 140lbs and their contest (like Cano's last three before it...) taking place at 147lbs, it does nothing for Angulo.

Shockingly, despite having captured a minor WBC bauble last year (the Latino welterweight title), Angulo is absent from the WBC top forty in both divisions. :verysad
