Pacquiao isn't mandating that Cotto come in at 145. He's not Cotto's mandatory, Cotto doesn't even have to fight him if he doesn't want to. The 145 limit was Cotto's suggestion, how can he be getting 'mandated' to do it?

The fact of the matter is that when Oscar fought Hopkins at a catchweight of 158, all 4 middleweight titles were on the line and noone complained.

There is already a precedence for this issue. The title is on the line and theres nothing wrong with that, end of story.

How unfair would it be that when its PAcquiao fighting Cotto at a catchweight, the title is not on the line, but for other fighters, it is. That would be major bull****. I don't get how people don't see this.

No, no, no, no! If the fight is a welter then either fighter can weigh what they want as long as it doesn't go OVER 147lbs. POINT BLANK!

Right, and if the fighters choose to agree a fight where neither weigh in above 145lbs, that is also completely up to them.

As has been the case numerous times through history.

Well, a agreement is an agreement. Thats up to them both. Comes down to dollars and sense and not whether its legit or not.

If the fight occurs within the class, 141-147 in this case, it should be for the title. You guys say you dont like catch weights. Well I hate none title fights more.

I think most people dont understand the diffrence between the fight contract and current sports boxing rules. out side of the sport of boxing you have purses, stadium, and even trunk colors and what not. then you have to fit thoughs contract agreements with in the gerneral scope of proffesional boxing. all boxing sactioning bodies ask is that fight rules are followed and saction fees paid LOL, out side of this the sactioning bodies don't care!. cotto put the 145 limit and belt on the table to cox, pac pass the 140 limit. the rules says with in the range a fight may take place the limit is just that a limit not the be all rule. catch weights are decided outside the sactioning bodies and proffesional boxing unless its a health issue. but if it makes you feel better 145 is the welterweight limit for IWBF.
