Perhaps a fight against Margarito would be pushing it, but Floyd is not a big welter, nor an aggressive fighter. I don't see how 147 would be much of a factor, especially considering Floyd isn't a puncher in this weight class. As far as Manny is concerned, his speed against De La Hoya was great as he appeared to be just as fast as ever and his power was evident from the bruises all over De La Hoya's face. And as far as Mayweather using his size against PAC, it's doubtful. If you can remember, even when De La Hoya began to slow down in the fight against Mayweather, Roger Mayweather urged his nephew to "whup his ass," but Floyd was reluctant to let his hands go. And I understand that many here compare Ricky to PAC, but I believe PAC to be a sharper, more explosive fighter, who's better schooled and uses aggressive in and out boxing, utilizing combinations and especially attacks to the body, while Hatton didn't have the schooling, nor the speed, and his game plan relied on smothering his opponent to wear them down, rather than beating them up. This is definitely a winnable fight for PAC and I think it would be beneficial for the fight to take place at 147 for PAC for the factor's that have been mentioned. Margarito may be too big and resiliant, but as far as what Roach is saying about never fighting Floyd at 147, I think it's BS. Floyd's not a puncher and PAC has his speed. It's damn close to a 50/50 fight. For me, if Floyd beats PAC he beat a dangerous ATG fighter and deserves all the accolades he gets regardless of how you feel about him personally. I don't see how anybody wouldn't give him credit for beating PAC.
PBF is a strong guy and he will try to cut the ring off against Pac and take the fight on the inside. His strength will be a definate factor.
Cut off the ring against PAC? You don't believe this do you? When is the last time you saw Floyd cut off the ring against anyone? Against Zab right? But Zab gets beat when he goes at top tier fighters aggressively, especially when he's a small fighter for the weightclass. Zab, like Floyd is instictively a defensive fighter. Not to mention, during that time Zab was probably faster than Floyd, and Floyd couldn't afford to play defense the entire time as the fight would have been much closer. If he goes right at PAC who is everybit as fast as Floyd as far as his offensive attack is concerned, Floyd will get ripped to shreds. The best approach for Floyd against Manny is to use the ring, keep Manny on the end of his jab, and counter him on the way in. If he fights PAC aggressively, PAC will get into a rhythm where he's backing away slightly until he finds an opening, (as he did against De La Hoya), and he'll lunge in and connect with his shots. PAC is too fast for Mayweather to deflect or avoid all of his punches even when he's on defense, if Mayweather is on the offense, he'll have an even harder time moving away from the punches, especially considering Floyd is the taller fighter.
People talk about how they are amazed Pac carried his speed so well to 147. Pac weighed 148 on fight night against DLH Pac weighed 147 against David Diaz on fight fight.
Floyd and Pacman would weigh virtually the same on fightnight. Whether they fight at 140 or 147 they are going to end up weight 147ish give or take a lb.
pbf is agressvie when he needs to be, hes power is underrated at 147.if odh was not to big at ww then neither is pbf.
But being aggressive wouldn't be a good fight plan against PAC. Floyd will look to counter PAC on the way in, keep him at the end of his jab, and go to the body as often as possible. PAC will also try to go to the body as often as possible, especially with his left hand.
Big mistake in assumption here, PBF is a good inside fighter and would bully Pac up close. Got to get the fight at 140. Tbh I favour Hattons style more than Pacs but either way its got to be 140.
Floyd doesn't bully anybody up close. He may find his range and bomb away with right hands, or take away Manny's offense, but he won't dig with Manny in the trenches. That's not Floyd's style. And Manny is not the type of fighter looking to maul his opponent, he's an inside-outside combination puncher.
