Especially based on color. Who the **** cares about color in a fight??? Are you going to give me some bull**** no scientific reason like "blacks are stronger or something like that??? I hate this kind of thread. I hate racists. And I mean black, white, hispanic, asian, whatever......Racists are just morons!!
In the fight game nobody avoids a certain of fighter by color. They may avoid a STYLE of course. That is no question. Though I do think Shane Mosley is feared amongst Mexicans....lol just joking.
I remember when Mosley said in the run up to the second DLH fight something along the lines of 'you know theres no rythmn like that of a black fighter'.....and all i could think of was Rahman. It may be true for Mosley but not for 99% of the current fighters (of any colour)
Marquez beat him in 2003. It should of taken place around 2000, or 2001. I don't know if you've seen the Marquez fight but Rafa was behind on the cards at the time of the stoppage. Austin was causing him problems with his speed, his reach and was doubling up on the jab, throwing the overhand left or sweeping right uppercut behind it, just generally letting his hands go and causing some problems. The stoppage came when he'd create some distance after they were trading at mid range, and then he had his hands low and Rafa nailed him with a 1-2 combination which stunned him. He then tried to back away with his hands down and continued to get nailed with left hook straight right combinations which eventually put him down. He got up and then Rafa went to work, pressuring him and throwing big punches. Austin went on the defensive a bit and tried to cover up and got stopped on his feet as some of Marquez's big punches got through his guard. I think he'd of given Pacman problems with his speed and reach. He wasn't very tall but he had freakishly long arms for his size. He was only about 5'6" but he had the same reach as 5'11" Caballero does. Add that to his southpaw stance and the good jab, I think that causes Pac problems. I think his stance takes away some of the capability in his straight left hand. Plus he had good speed and decent power at the weight. I'm not saying he'd beat Pac, but he'd certainly cause him problems and it would be competitive. Pacman wasn't as complete at the lower weights as a fighter as he is now. He didn't really have that extra dimension that he does now. I don't think his punch resistance was as good. There's the 2 KO's, although both were at flyweight, but he would of faced Austin at 118 and at 122, Nedal Hussein dropped him and genuinely hurt him with a jab.
Just as I finished reading this, Freddie Roach came into my house and shouted "Manny would never let a black boy beat him." He then punched me in the back of the head and left. I was like, WTF???
Mayweather and Pacquiao were in different weight class during the same year. How the hell is Pacquiao suppose to fight him?
I'm black and I can say that it wasn't a lot of talented black fighters at the lower weights for him to fight.. He fought the best fighters at those weights which happen to be mexicans fighters.. But now he fighting at weights 140/147 where there is a lot more talented black fighters so we will see what happens in the future but I don't think he fears fighting black fighters..
