JMM is not a draw at all. He is one of the least appreciated Mex fightes out of the bunch. He is no Morales or Barrera. You can credit about 200k of the Floyd PPV to him. Floyd is more ****ing popular post ODH. Post all the other **** he shown his face on. Post Hatton. Both Floyd and Pac built themselves into the two PPV attractions in boxing. Nobody is ****ing with either of their PPV numbers. But Floyd is the bigger draw b/c he plays the villian very well. Mosley aint **** for a draw and even ODH did not do good #s(for ODH) with him in the second fight.

When Floyd does 700k buys on his name alone, then let me know, and NO Floyd didnt carry the JMM fight on his name solely. JMM has a huge mexican fanbase and Floyd himself said that he's fighting Marquez because he has an entire country behind him. Until then, 700k buys for a fighter carrying a ppv all by himself is more than impressive.

Then where was JMM "large mexican fanbase" in his fights against Pac, Diaz, and Casamayor? Floyd carried the PPV by himself and you know it. It's unreal how you can say with a straight face that JMM is a PPV draw. Too bad Floyd is going to beat Pac again with his fight against Shane who's not the PPV draw that Cotto is.

When Floyd/Shane fight does 1.5-2 million then you will say that it was Shane who was the draw with his "large african-american fanbase". :rofl :rofl

    Let's see...

    700k x $50 = $35M + $7M from Jones = $42M.

Pac got ~$12M and ~$2M for Clottey. With not much promotional expenses, I think Arum made decent money on this one.

:good The only the that losing money is Pac because he's being robbed blind by Arum. Arum will never come out short!

    Lost money???

People are losing sight on what constitutes good PPV numbers just so that fans can pretend to be some sort of power broker in fantasy land for Pac-Floyd negotiations.

That's nonsense. If 24/7 had nothing to do with PPV numbers then they wouldn't bother doing the show. 24/7 is a huge money maker. It is also the reason why Floyd vs Marquez found success. That and the fact that they fought on a Mexican holiday. Oscar De La Hoya knows how and when to promote a show to maximize the PPV success. Pac vs Clottey did great considering the lack of big advertisement for the fight. Hell, a lot of casual fans that I know didn't even realize the fight was on that night and I had to call them and let them know. These are guys that love Pac, so it isn't like they weren't interested in him or the fight... it just wasn't put out there a lot. People are growing used to seeing the 24/7 show to build up big fights.

Do you really think that if Pac and JMM fought a 3rd time- that it would beat Floyd and JMM??

as I ve said- Pac is the bigger star internationally, more popular, sells more shoes , makes more money and internationally is bigger PPV wise-

    BUT

Floyd is the HBO PPV king. there is no doubt about it. against common opponents- he sells more, against non common opponents, he sells more. he s been around the top longer, he s american, and he s ****ing good.

I dont see why Pac fans cant concede on this point- and admit he s a bigger ppv star- its like convincing the clergy the earth is round. Its almost as though that they think if they concede that point then that they ll concede the fight with Floyd should be 55/45- and then everything falls apart.
