Pac/Clottey isnt a big enough fight for a venue like Dallas Stadium!

I was at the Cotto/Clottey fight in MSG, and if there were 15 Clottey fans, that was a lot. He's a great fighter, but he has no real fanbase or casual fan appeal. They'd be lucky to get 15-20k fans in there. This coming from a diehard Pac fan!

There is no way clottey is getting a decision in texas....not with dickie cole as the head of the commission.....you get stuck with laurence cole as the ref...:yikes:nono or worse gale van hoy sitting ringside

I agree. The venue is well fit to Floyd-Pac showdown, not against Clottey.

The undercard will be STACKED with Tex-Mex fighters.Arum knows what he's doing. Also in a venue as large as this, there will be plenty of reasonably priced tickets for the local red necks to purchase.:deal

Unless ticket prices are through the floor, I'm talking 10 bucks for the nosebleed section, this fight is going to look ****ing horrible with only 20K fans on hand.

Very true. There are many Filipinos and African immigrants that go to Texas universities. And that's not counting the hardcore Mexican and Mexican American fans and the casual boxing fans. I'm from Texas and even I admit about the bogus, corrupt decisions going on put the visiting fighter or the challenger at risk. I think if anything not to justify those decisions, but Clottey, like Malignaggi, already should know firsthand to fight more aggressively and not let off the accelerator if he plans on upsetting the Pacman who is the champ.

Well, there are reports that margarito will be on the undercard and, although a proven cheat, he'll be able to help draw a large hispanic ( meaning mexican :yep) fanbase. I wouldn't be surprised if bob arum stuffed that undercard with a lot of hispanic fughters. Maybe cotto can fight on the undercard against an easy opponent (highly unlikely, considering the beating he took from pac), just to further create hype around a possible margarito match up.

Now since valero is licensed in texas, why not a fight with him against humberto soto. I know valero is fighting demarco next on a different date, But if I was arum i'd cancel that **** quick and have valero/soto on the undercard.

Plus cowboys stadium is ****ING HUGE!!!! I think ticket prices will be insanely low. a good number of hispanic, filipinos and other immigrant will be able to afford the tickets. Doesn't matter if it's nosebleed, with the built-in HDTV the stadium has.........It wont be a problem

A 100,000+ capacity venue for an uninspiring matchup at a catchweight .
They will have to give away tickets to fill the stadium.

i think the undercard will be great. i think arum chose the location because he's got a solid undercard for the pac-clottey fight in texas.

According to Arum the stadium is being set up to 45k, though it could be expanded to 60k.

Not so sure about that. Margarito's comeback opponent is Carson Jones, the dude who just upset Tyrone Brunson on Shobox a few weeks ago. And it's not a given that Margarito will be able to get his license back.

Other fights mentioned were Alfonso Gomez vs. Jose Luis Castillo and a showcase bout from some fighter from Dallas.

Here's Dan Rafael's blog on the undercard...

Why worry about this when Arum does not?
