Roach & Pac adore each other, but I can understand why HBO are having to 'ham it up'
Cos Pac & Cotto are too similar, both likeable but quiet assasins.

So I will cut HBO some slack, they can only work with the tools which they are given.(& Im not calling Pac or Cotto tools btw!) Im just stating my point.

& to those who claim Floyd jnr is a bore to watch, GET REAL! Hes the P4P king, & his appearances on 24/7 are unmissable.

Floyd jnr IS boxing. Although he can irritate me at times, I still worship the ground the man walks on regardless. Cos I see the bigger picture.

If there is one boxer I would like to meet in life, its Floyd jnr. Im not holding my breath that hes going to visit Glasgow anytime soon though...

 

The funny thing is, they dont need to use anything to sell this fight as it will sell itself lol


I truly hope the 145 limit doesnt affect Cotto coz it would be a shame if he was weight drained and as a consequence lost some of his durability and stamina. In fact, I hope he comes in at 147 and just pays the extra $$$$ per lb over.

 

Paulie Malignaggi thinks Cotto wins this and he is usually a very good judge of a fight, however I just think Pacquiao is quicker, can throw straight combo after straight combo - while Cotto throws and retreats - and he has better footwork.

I look at that sort of stuff before thinking about intangibles such as weight or dodgy training camps, which may or may not play any part in the fight.

 

how did you come to that conclusion? most of the times i've heard him comment on upcoming fights he's been well off the mark.

 

I like Cotto in this one but tbh I don't mind who wins both will go up in my estimation as a result of been prepared to take on the best. Win or lose they remain superstars in my eyes.

 

I also think he's been spot on in a lot of the fights I've seen him predict. I have a lot of respect for him for saying Pacquiao would destroy Hatton where a lot of fighters would have picked the fighter who had just stopped him like Hatton did Malignaggi.

It's not just the predictions, it's the manner. He's been almost dismissive of the losing opponent and he's been proven right afterwards. Both Hatton fights(Pacquioa&Mayweather) and there may have been one more fight that I can't remember right now.

Malignaggi is the one reason I'm doubting my pick, cause he seems equally bullish about this one too.

 

The guy's a complete black hole. He commands attention by wittering like a child. Just look at the difference between him and Pacquaio - Pac has charisma. He's magnetic. Floyd's an attention seeker - not a personality.

 

For someone that claims to be a natural cynic of boxing, and doesn't see the grand fraud Floyd is perpetrating on the boxing media, I'm disappointed. Seriously, Floyd unmissable? What?

I avoid him because he sounds like a prize ***** - his boxing skills are sublime, but he has a sense of entitlement that far exceeds his actual accomplishments.

I've enjoyed Cotto-Pac much MUCH more than any of the ******ed displays that feature Floyd. He's just another example of the dumbed down, increasingly crass approach to marketing that is liable to turn off a large proportion of the audience.

Everyone likes a bad boy, but only if he fights like a bad boy or with some desire.

 

episode three seems exceptionally ****. this has been a poor 24/7 series.

 

Episode three was guff. They've got two really professional guys who are totally focused on their careers and fights - not scintillating stuff this week. And like I care what Freddy Roach's mother thinks about Manny!

But seeing Cotto so focused is interesting. He looks like a winner in a way that Hatton certainly didn't.

 

Got to agree with you. I think the 24/7 format is growing tired now as the same old faces are featured. The only fights I can honestly say I would want to see a 24/7 for now are Jones vs Hopkins and Haye vs Vitali/Wlad if either of those fights happen.
