Pac-Diaz had about 9.000 spectators turn up - how about the top 10 for the millenium?

Which fights have had the biggest number of spectators in attendence in this millenium? Let's try to get some fights and some numbers up and see if we can make a top 10 of the fights with the highest numbers of spectators. I would assume that some of Wlad's fights in Germany had a lot of spectators. Perhaps also a Gatti fight could be in with a chance? What else?:huh

    Calzaghe had 35,000 in Cardiff.

In fairness, Pac-Diaz would have drawn that, if not more, had it been in Manilla.

hatton had nearly 59,000 for the Homecoming.

Infact he had 24,000+ in Vegas for the Mayweather fight.

    Lets see......

    1. Hatton vs Lazcano
    2. Calzaghe vs Kessler
    3. Calzaghe vs Manfredo

After that, it could be any other fight in the US

I wasn't there of course... But "The Rumble in the Jungle" looked like 1/2 of Africa was there... Considering we are looking at the last 1,000 years I'd imagine that very well could be #1... "The Thrilla in Manilla" is probably on this list as well, and I wonder how many people would have fit into that Coliseum in Rome??? Historians tend to think about 50,000... So I think 50,000 plus may be necessary to make this list ... I'll tip my hat to ya H1tman if you can put a somewhat accurate list together, and I really like this thread idea...

"In this millenium" - otherwise it would be too much for now. Lets do this first then we can do "al time" afterwards, ok?

So we may have Kessler-Calzaghe (about 50-60.000) and Hatton-Lazano (50.000?) in the top 10.

How about Wlad's fights? ODLH? Morales? Barrera? Mundine? Pavlik?

Spinks-Judah had about 23,000, which is the largest US gate I can remember this decade.

The MGM Grand doesn't even hold 15k, so the claims regarding Mayweather-Hatton are BS, unless you also count the live simulcast (which I wouldn't).

Mundine-Green had about 37,000 in attendance.

Kessler-Andrade and Cotto-Judah both had over 20,000 in attendance.

The THRILLA IN MANILA was in the Araneta Coliseum, and I think it can be filled up to 25,000 people, full packed.

It's not nearly as big as the Roman coliseum or a football stadium.
