I'm not even sure why the TS is still replying to this thread. If I were him I'd be hoping it got shuffled and overlooked making its way quickly to the 10th page.

*****!!I am a fan of boxing.I used to sing the gospel of Pacquiao to my boys that don't watch boxing that much, but this board has made me only able to see his flaws right now,and everybody I know who watches boxing hears about it whenever his name is brought up.He is a great fighter but is flawed.I still like what he brings but his extreme fans have forced me to call it how I see it because they don't seem to think he has flaws.

Am I a *****?No I'm from Philly,I like B-Hop and Eddie Chambers and have met them a number of times in Johnson homes projects and around north philly.I have also met Joe Frazier as I used to live two blocks from his gym on Broad and Glennwood.I was going to become a fighter from his broke ass gym,but I didn't wanna cut my dreads which I regret because I got shot three times a year or so later, which definitely wouldn't of happened if I was training, instead of running the streets.

So Am I a *****?No I've never met the guy.I think he is a great boxer and Manny is a great brawler. If I think Floyd wins the matchup then that's my boxing mind in action, not my heart.Boxing is a science and boxers beat brawlers. That is true in most cases.I don't "love" floyd, but pacquiao's fans sure love him.

I'm proud to say that I'm a Pac and Ali fan. I became a boxing fan when I saw Cassius Clay beat Sonny Liston. To me, he's still the greatest.

Nearly everyone on the planet is a Muhammd Ali fan.And I personally am ok with pinoys,my friend Omar is married to a phillipino named "Milly" and she is hilarious and cool.So are her parents who they both live with.

The real point of the thread is that hardcore pacfans can't claim to hate a loud mouth kid who says he can't be beat then turn around and say they hate floyd because he's a loud mouth kid who says he can't be beat.I just find the hypocrisy amazing. If Ali was a young black kid growing up today he would be Floyd. If Floyd grew up in the 50's then he would be Ali.We are not talking accomplishments either as much as we are talking personality similarities and social influences. If Ali grew up in the hip hop generation he would be Floyd,if Floyd grew up before hip hop in the 50's he would be Ali.It's the hypocrisy of the denial that is amazing.

So every generation of black youth individuals were identical depending on the period? That **** is reaching man. There are plenty of people influenced by actual hip hop today that don't feel the need to put such emphasis on wealth and personal flamboyancy. There were materialistic loudmouths during Ali's era, and there are militant-minded blacks struggling for justice today. You can't just flip them around and say they'd be each other. It makes no sense.

Ali also fought everyone in his division, and multiple times at that. He didn't fight Middleweights (divisions lower) or grandpas. I don't deny Floyd's talent at all, he's amazing, but talking **** is a phenomenon in boxing that comes in many shapes and sizes. Ali was witty and clever with his trash-talking that rarely went deeper than fight hype, without crossing the line of disrespect. Floyd calls ODLH a *****, Mosley a "kid" desperate to be him, and likens fighting Marquez the lightweight- who he claims to respect to much- to a man "playin with his young son," all the while complicating a fight everyone wants to see that would validate his greatness after being criticized for cherrypicking with baseless accusations and petty greed.

There are similarities, but you can't justify equating the two just to insult some Pacquiao fans who dislike Floyd. More often than not, people love Ali for being likabley brash, socially conscious, and ready to prove himself repeatedly, and dislike Floyd for being obnoxiously brash, ignorantly materialistic, and consistently reluctant and complicated in his behavior to validate his claim to supremacy.

I know its been done already but Ali fought the best at their best ( and many of them when he was past HIS best ) Floyd and RJJ spent a lot of time whipping guys who were past it or never it in the first place.

He cared about the poor and downtrodden ( or at very least appeared to ) he didnt toss money about as if it meant nothing , especially when so many americans ( mainly black americans ) have **** all.

Love for Ali isnt universal or unconditional as you say either. i could watch Ali all day and listen to him talk for fun but when I think of the way he treated Frazier it makes me dislike him a little too.

Ali had charm Roy has charm too and that lets you get away with a lot , Floyd does not !

LOL. Ali was not only brilliant in the ring, he had a sharp mind with a gift for words. Even still, there were plenty of people back in the day that wanted to see Ali humbled and his big mouth silenced. Cockiness will always win you a fair share of detractors, even if the delivery is humorous. As you say, people almost universally appreciate him now. What do you think changed?

Floyd, on the other hand, is brilliant in the ring, but there's no substance or wit to any of the words that come out of his mouth. The stuff he says is just annoying. Worse, he doesn't give the impression that he is confident like Ali was. Rather, he comes off as deeply insecure. Lastly, stuttering is an unfortunate and almost universally detested trait. It's aggravating and distracting to have to listen to people that stutter. So, in Floyd, you've got an insecure guy who talks trash (while lacking eloquence and humor), stutters, and tends to avoid tough challenges in the ring.

I can see now how you'd think Floyd and Ali are interchangeable personalities.

You have a number of points.Floyd could have fought everyone, even people coming fresh off of losses or people who would not improve his ppv standings, but that's not "money".Secondly Ali was a man possessed at times,Floyd never seems possessed by the spirit of righteous indignation.Third,Ali and Floyd are far from interchangeable, but let's not pretend that people hate different things about them, people hate the same things about them, the mouth, the claims of being unbeatable and being pretty and the greatest ever.Floyd is not Ali and vice versa but the real difference here is that,Floyd is nicer than Ali,because Floyd is a humble guy who has assumed a character, because "prettyboy" simply was not working financially.

Willie Pep is said to have won a round against Jackie Graves without throwing a punch, but that is likely a myth.
