"Why are people mad..." you ask?

Because a good 35% of people scored Algieri's last fight, his first fight ever at or near the top level of boxing, against him.

Because I couldn't tell you who Algieri's 2nd or 3rd best victories are.

Because I could name 15 WW's that would be better opponents.

Because Algieri has never accumulated a quality win at WW ever.

    I wasn't aware guerrero was a champ.
I also wasn't aware algieri was a ww champ. (As were Ortiz and maidana)
The scenarios aren't exactly identical, but anyways, Floyd gets **** on for those fights mainly by PAC fans. It just funny seeing the hypocrisy lol
" it's the hypocrisy of Floyd fans that is funny"
.... As if PAC fans aren't bigger hypocrites.

Even though I'm not a huge Pac fan I'm of the opinion he's put in enough work where he can fight whoever he wants as long as people can be real about his comp saying that though what do people considered real/paper champs.

Ortiz was a paper titlist I'll agree with that he looked good at the time but what he did afterwards makes me devalue that win. Guerrero never held a title at WW so I don't see how he is a paper titlist he got the fight by moving up and beating the #1&2 contender for the WBC belt to become mandatory. Maidana is an established fighter and was a real champ.

How are fighters like Thurman/Lara considered real Champs but have never held a real title before but a Maidana who along with Alexander and Bradley probably has one of the toughest resume of newer fighters and has been a real champ in 2 divisions is not?

GGG has never faced a current or former title holder but is a real champ, Cotto beats the man at the weight and is a paper titlist , not saying that to bash these guys because I like GGG, Thurman not so much Lara but I'm trying to figure out the criteria people have for a real and fake champ.

Dude ur not even close. Those guys won a belt in MAYWEATHER'S WEIGHT CLASS!! Not one below and not ranked out of the top 5. Algieri won that belt and still isnt top 5 at JWW.

Pac can try but he'll never be like Mayweather or have his accpolishments. U can say hes got 7 division champ, (8 if u really count 150, or only 6 if u dont count ring belt which u actually shouldnt) and thats it. nothing else at all and Mayweather is still fighting the best at 37, close to 38. Pac 35 and fighting JWW :patsch:patsch

Not by making fans pay $74 for it. If its HBO sure, PPV has to be a joke. If it shows ppv, this just shows how promoters & egos are killing boxing. I don't mind Pac take a easier fight but atleast provide a opponet with some danger. Atleast Midana is know for being relentless & have power. What does Algieri have going?

    Good post bro :good

And if ur gonna charge fat money like u said at least bring somebody to the table. PPL can hate on Maidana as much as they want but they know that dude brings it and was never in a boring match.

I cant name Algeri 2..3..4..5 best win. Pac is a punk for reals

This is where you're wrong. Let me explain.

    1) 2011 Ortiz, Guerrero, And 2014 Maidana ARE ALL step ups from Provo and Algieri WOULD NOT, be favored against any of them. Broner and THAT Berto are all clear stepup over Provo on a skill level. Provo was Algieri's first fight at the World Level. A 2011 Berto had wins over Quintana, Collazo, and Steve Forbes. Miles ahead of anything on Algieri's resume. Ortiz beat him. Broner had wins over Ponce De Leon, Paulie, Rees, Demarco, and Escobedo. Miles ahead of anything on Algieri's resume. Maidana beat him.

    2) Berto in 2011, is a great win. Not a good win. A great win. People love to have selective memory, but the fact is that Ortiz-Berto was FOTY, and they were BOTH rated very high, before they faded into obscurity.

Spot on bro. Berto was a great win for Ortiz. Berto had good wins against good fighters. ortiz had lost to Maidana and ppl was questioning his heart then he fights Berto in a FOY.

There is no comparsion at all. Algeri has one win agisnt Ruslan who desnt have a bunch of great wins either, just ppl know him because hes eciting to watch.,

Nobody stays on top forever I think its a testament to Mayweather that at 37/8 he's still fighting top rated titlist. The whole how much a PPV sells arguement is only for negotiations and figuring out things like splits between two top fighters who really cares about how much it sells if you don't like a fight don't buy it its not like it won't be online the next day.

As far as the matchup it's a shitty fight as far as name value totally but Algeri's size and style could lead to a closer than expected bout even in his prime Pacquiao had trouble with boxers a past prime Pacquiao vs a fighter with a big height advantage and a style advantage who knows.

I think the kid mondernfonzie said it best in another thread nowadays every fight has to be a super duper mega fight or its ****. Pac is 35 and about retire he's fighting the level he should be fighting at.

So Guerrero, Ortiz didn't turn out to be world beaters, sounds like you being a Monday morning quarterback... at the time Floyd fought them they where both highly rated in the welterweight division. Algieri is not even a welterweight nor highly rated...

    2) after agreeing to Random dope testing.
