To be fair to Pacquiao, there was no reason for him to be cautious. It would have been to his detriment if he was to think before punch (most of the punches that hit him flush were counterpunches). Reason? Well... why go to a tactical 'boxing' fight with Clottey and give him a chance, when you can concentrate on producing high amount of volume and really take any chance Clottey had away. (of course, appart from the puncher's chance, Clottey may not have a high KO ratio, but he's a puncher, don't be fooled)

Pacquio was so concentrated on offense that, he basically ignored what was coming to him, because, while keeping a high volume he insured that... that what's coming wasn't going to come in high amounts... He kept on moving, rarely got badly hurt because of that and just sticked to his offense. No point in engaging in a tactical fight, when you can win it by sheer volume. Besides, Pacq is an offensive fighter. It's always better to concentrate to what you do best.

And about comments like Pacq being hurt, sure, he got hit, but he took those punches very well. He was never troubled. Mayweather doesn't match Clottey for power, let alone Cotto. But what Mayweather can do that Clottey didn't is move around the ring having... almost equally efficient defense, but hitting back. The question is whether Mayweather will produce the output necessary to beat Pacq. Really now, if he fights like he did against Marquez, he's in for a rude awakening.

TO be fair what little Clottey threw was basically all landing, so if Pac had a few marks its not surprising given how big and strong Clottey is. Great performance by Pac, I will be looking forward to May now to see who Pac will end up facing. That being said I still believe Floyd will win, pac vs floyd or shane is a toss up.

I have said it time and time again, Shane is a much bigger threat to Floyd than Pac and I can see him losing to Shane. Pac has too many weaknesses that work with Floyds strengths for Pac to come through that one. Floyd simply adapts, and he is the most accurate counter puncher going right now along with the best defensive fighter. Combine that with being as fast or faster, bigger, stronger, and much smarter than Pac, you have a receipt for disaster for Pac. Again, Arum and Roach knows this.

Yep, he will make floyd uncomfortable but at the end of the day it will look like Floyd-Judah. Target practice vs a smaller and dumber fighter.

Let you not forget also that Pac is always willing to trade shots, getting hit is normal to him. But getting hit by him solidly takes you to snoozeville. I think Floydie will think twice about that.

    Absolute pig****.

Pac will always take a few cleanly because he is an offensive fighter. He took a couple of hard shots in the first third of the fight because he was aiming to make it an open fight, but when he realized Clottey could not be tempted out of survival mode he tightened his own defence up and settled down to dominate the fight with movement and combinations using angles.

Pac is not Willie Pep, he never will be, and I doubt he wants to be, but Clottey never landed sufficient leather on him to even make it competitive, it was an excellent all-round performance from Pacquiao.

He did and Pac ran away using every excuse in the book to not fight him.

Those clean shots he took from Clottey would be coming all nite whenever he made his many mistakes on defense against Floyd or Mosley. Furthermore Floyd would tie Manny in knots the way Marquez did all the while hitting him with clean accurate shots down the pike. Floyds skill and footwork too much to overcome for manny while being hit cleanly by a bigger stronger man.

Why is there so much jealousy over Pac on here? The guy goes out and fights non stop for 12 rounds, yet people cry like he's doing something wrong.... It's really pathetic how sad half the people are on here, I think some of you need to step outside into the real world.:-(

Jan 2010. Hmmm, Nallege is that you?

Or you must be Floydie himself, aren't you.

really? so who had those olypmpic style testing demands and who did not make a counter-offer to pac's 24 day cut-off offer?

floyd said it's an easy fight and now pac is easy to hit. so floyd should have no problem cherry-picking an easy one this time eh, right?
