Since he started pro, was welter 9 divisions up from where he started ??? It has to be 8 or 9 and has anybody else skipped that high in the modern division era???? I understand that he statrted early-young and did not win belts in them all but is this accurate and has it been done before?? thats over half the weight classes and it also goes to show that many especially at lower weights are unecessary thoughts
PAC started at 106 lbs. 1. 108 2. 112 3. 115 4. 118 5. 122 6. 126 7. 130 8. 135 9. 140 10. 147 Yep it's 9 divisions jump... You can make a case it's 10 divisions jump... .
Yes it's true PAC didn't win belts in all of that 10 divisions... PAC win belts in 6 divisions ONLY, 4 of which are LINEAL... PAC is the only boxer who holds 4 LINEAL titles... and the 2nd boxer to achieved titles in 6 divisions behind Hoya... 1. 108 2. 112 - WBC (LINEAL) 3. 115 4. 118 5. 122 - IBF 6. 126 - Ring (LINEAL) 7. 130 - Ring/WBC (LINEAL) 8. 135 - WBC 9. 140 - Ring/IBO (LINEAL) 10. 147 :happy
Lineal is the man who beat the man who beat the man...if the man is not beaten because he leaves the division or retires, a new lineage is established.
OK you swallowed my bait... It's ONLY 9 divisions jump... I think we both are happy with 9.... :good .
Hoya fight was at 147... BTW if PAC defeats Cotto, PAC will add the welterweight title to his amazing string of titles in different weight divisions... That title will be PAC's 7th division title and he will be the ONLY boxer having titles in 7 different weight divisions... Isn't it adds more greatness for PAC?? .

It's great but check any other fighters' weight at the same age Pac started... and you'll find youngers usually weight a lot less than in their adult age, what a surprise. The difference is that Pac started the pros very early while others stayed at the amateurs for longer. Floyd Mayweather for example, was a flyweight as a teenager and won a title at light middleweight as a pro, you could say he gained even more weight, just in two parts, amateur and professional.
Understandable...but how many fighters can you name have won titles from flyweight to JWW? A span of 8 divisions. Sure he started young, and inexperienced...but the fact that he could be a Lineal champ at that age with that inexperience is simply amazing. This is not some kid who outgrew his body...this was a world champ who outgrew his body.
