Haha. Manny has very good balance actually, it's where his power stems from. If you listen to any reasoned boxing anaylist they would say the same thing. He is also a very good Basketball player as well, which takes a reasonable amount of balane and coordiantion to be good at.
No need to apologize.....these "Flaws" are what makes PAC great in a sense. He's able to overcome the technical flaws with his pure athletic ability, talent and reflexes. And those "technical" flaws are what his foes focus on and expect to be able to take advantage of...which is where their downfalls occur. Manny is a very skilled fighter...even though you disagree the proof is in the pudding. Many feel PAC's "unorthodox" equates to being "unskilled" or "raw". He's not. The man is polished and has an awkward style that works very well. There is a method to his madness! The movement, the wide variety of offesnive weapons...his reflexes and footwork, the head movement and angels are all poppin off on all cylinders! He's a very complete fighter and even though he is some times off balance he's able to work through that....and the only reason he's off balance is b/c he's throwing all his punches with so much power...yet he's still able to rally off 8-12 punch combos with out blinking. I'm sure floyd is going to present a lot of problems for PAC....But best believe PAC is going to be all sorts of problems for Floyd too. The fight is going to be back and forth...tatical and violent! It's gonna incorporate all the attributes that both men will bring to that ring. Floyd's gonna win the outside boxing match and PACs going to win the inside FIGHT! Floyd won't allow the fight to be on the inside for too long. but in those spots is where PAC wins rounds and inflicts the kind of damage floyd hasn't ever experienced.
Really? Roach seems to be at his all time best....His record and accomplishments support that. But yea...anther boxing mind couldn't hurt....But we saw DLH have Angelo, Bernstien ect in his camp and that didn't work out too well.
I'm going to keep saying this, if Pac went through the Amateur Ranks he would've won a Gold medal and would be undefeated going into this showdown. I agree with you that all his flaws is what makes him great, I said that before in another thread ... the fact that he doesn't have the amateur background and was able to accomplish what he has is truly amazing ... and he makes up for his technical flaws with on the job experience. Thats how he beat Cotto !! ... he actually out psyched Cotto !! But against technically superior fighters (who were able to compete on his level) he showed signs of struggle.
Very true there! Which is why I feel Floyd is gonna win. But I strongly believe Floyd will have his most difficult test with Manny and will in return....get that "GREAT WIN" that all great fighters have in their careers. One's where there is struggle and the ability to overcome that struggle to prove your mettle. ....Ray had that with Duran and this will be the same kind of win for Floyd where he answers all those questions that have been asked about him in the past.
He might not have superb balance, but the WORST?? hell no!!! Gamboa's is shittier and judging paul williams from his last fight against martinez he gets way out of position alot. If you're talking bout pac pre-135 and above then yes. The pac we know now is much better. His balance IMPROVED GREATLY.
DLH was on his last leg against Pac and didn't have to fight that fight ... and for the record he's 0-1 against Floyd
Gambo is stiff ... but he doesn't have bad balance ... the great thing about the Cubans is that they do have good balance ... i'm not talking about after getting hit, i'm talking about during subsequent movments and after punching ... and that definitely isn't a characteristic of Gamboa.
after reading almost every single posts above, i have concluded that people don't see pac as having a problem in his balance while almost every single joyboy were saying that pac has the worst balance ever.
Short guys with thick legs have a lower center of gravity and a much more stable base to work from. It's the tall lanky fighters with spindly legs that generally have poorer balance due to their naturally higher center of gravity. Manny sometimes gets wild and puts himself in awkward positions, but his balance is outstanding.
