There are 3 main type of fighters in boxing; boxer, puncher, swarmer. The old addage is; boxer beats puncher, puncher beats swarmer, swarmer beats boxer. We know JMM is the boxer. What is Pac? Is he a puncher or is he a swarmer? I tend to think of him as more of a swarmer. If he can do more than just simply throw the jab/double jab, straight left combo that he relied heavily on in the first fight; Pac should win the fight.

a one dimensional pacquiao beat barrera in his own game, twice. if you still think that's not good enough boxing aint for you, try watching a circus.

I think he used to be a swarmer, though more of a hybrid puncher/swarmer because of his in and out tactic. Now I am unsure. I still have him winning the fight. I for one am one of the few who think Pacquiao is at the tail end of his prime though.

Interesting.:think I'm changing my pick. I now think Pac is a puncher. JMM will slice him up like a ginsu knife. This will be a one sided boxing clinic beatdown administered by Marquez. Pac will get plastered with jabs, right hands, and counter punches all night. Roach will finally waive the white flag around the 10th round.

Sticking it to haters with cold hard facts is a best approach then what Johnco does, which is to reply with 100 smiley faces and rarely touch the post he's replying to.

    what?

No he didn't out box Berrera, he overwhelmed him with alot of punches and Barrera ***** up -- once he seen that he wasn't as fast and couldn't brawl with him then he folded. The second fight wasn't boxing either -- Berrera was too scared to engage and didn't want to exchange. Berrera was trying to survive instead of box.

Marquez wasn't scared despite being knocked down 3 times ... and figured out that all Pacquiao was doing was throwing the jab, left hand combo. He neutralized his speed and made it a boxing match.

Closest thing to PAC is Pryor...It can be done..There are a few greats like these..Foreman, Marciano...PAc is a Puncher not a boxer...you can go through a list of whos who in boxing greats and find similar fighters
Dempsey, Jackson, Tito, Shavers, Benn, Diego

People in ESB classify PAc as a brawler because they dont knwo what the **** theyre talking about coz Brawlers are defined as slow both hands and feet (eg. Mayorga)

As a style matchup, a guy like Pac (who is a puncher w/ not so perfect technique) will always have problems with classic boxers like JMM.
I will admit that and for PAc to win against JMM, hell need to turn it into a brawl ala Frazier to Ali

PAcs style is more condusive to in-fighters like a Diaz, hatton because they will invariably walk through some firepower..unless they have a tremendous chin...punchers have the adv

But punchers lose their advantage against swarmers when they run into someone who is too big for them. I think that will be the outcome of Hatton-Pacquiao and perhaps even against Diaz, who didn't get stopped or get dropped against a hard punching Campbell. We shall see.

I think Pryor was a bit better at what he did than Pacquiao is at what he does, but I think Pacquiao is more accomplished and more explosive.
