What was Oscar doing differently? As far as I'm aware, he is plodding and waiting for his opponent, except the other fighter is twisting and turning him and throwing in combinations as oppose to potshotting. Pac dominates the Oscar on the first vid equally as bad, just as a bad stylistic matchup. From the looks of it, the way Oscar holds his guard, he is a lot more succeptible to the straight left, Pac's best weapon. Same Oscar that plods forward trying to trap the smaller guy, when Floyd gets cornered he stands still and slips and blocks the punches making Oscar look good. Pac simply turns Oscar, hsi footwork just beffudles him completely.
Partially. Oscar is a left hand dominant fighter. It's common knowledge that you shoot great rights to beat up southpaws especially against manny.
Also, look at how Oscar performed in his fight prior Mayweather and compare it to the fight he had prior manny. fred roach even admitted how screwed Oscar was because they had to rehydrate him using IV. Fighters don't need to go that far often.
Weight (7 lbs.) and age (18 months older)... Mayweather beat him first. Well over a year before Pac ever did anything. If you can't admit that Mayweather's victories over de la Hoya and Hatton are better than Pac's, you may need to take a different approach as that would be a bias double standard for most everybody here. Everybody knows this there is no need for a thread, man.
Reference to video please, not these pointless facts. We all knew the facts before the fight yet all of you still picked Oscar. Its irrelevant, I want cold hard evidence...the video is there to see, pick it apart and tell me why the Oscar Floyd is fighting is so much better. Same Oscar to me.
Again, pointless numbers...I said in the thread use the video as reference, its the only solid evidence. Weight, age etc, we dont know how much of a factor they played. We knew the numbers pre-fight. Im asking for something so simple, I provided the videos, I asking for a breakdown from the experts who refuse to give Pac credit for beating a guy who fights exactly the same as he did 18months previously. Likewise post a vid of Pac-JMM and PBF-JMM and I will happily oblige in critiquing the video as to why the JMM that fought Pac is much better.
i think the point of comparison is the oscar that came to fight both pac and floyd. not the circumstances before and after.
First off I didn't pick Oscar. I didn't even make a prediction for that fight. Just because your fruity little friends all believed Oscar would win doesn't mean I did. Oscar rehydrated what? 2 pounds and weighed less than a guy who was on his first trip to welterweight, even though Oscar had fought at middleweight before. You also ignored my first post in your thread giving you the most basic boxing knowledge. nice try
I can see your point about Floyds win over Oscar being superior but you point about his win over Hatton being better is silly. Manny fought Hatton in Hatton's weight class (which is the knock that is used to lessen the Oscar victory) and he smashed him out in a fraction of the time it took Floyd. You can't have it both ways.
I dont care, everyone int his forum picked Oscar except for 5% and 4% of that were die hard *******s. You didnt pick Oscar...ok wheres your prediction..oh no...none here, how convenient. I dont care for numbers. Watch the vid and give me a breakdown. You are the one that missed or ignored my first post: "Without giving me pointless numbers, for the expert analysts here, please tell me how the Oscar Floyd fought was so much better? What was Oscar doing differently?" Age, weight...numbers...
I've always thought it was a myth that Oscar couldn't fight southpaws. Look at the fights he struggled in prior to these two fights: Molina, Whitaker, Quartey, Molsey I, Sturm and Hopkins. Out of that bunch only Whitaker is a southpaw, and we're talking about Pernell Whitaker for ****s sake, a fighter who I have ranked above Manny and Oscar's first fight at the 147 limit. Its been about 3 years since I've watched that fight but if I am correct it was Oscar's right hand that troubled Whitaker the most. He used the right hand effectively in other fights, ala Vargas and at times Mayweather. I'd get into the general debate your discussing here but I am tired as **** and need to go to bed. I just thought my input would be that Oscar isn't especially troubled by southpaws.
No prediction is here because I didn't make one, so shut the **** up about that. I'm not responsible for what your friends say. You got the most basic intro to their styles in my first post, but you chose to ignore it. How about you go read it and think about it for a second? We can discuss and share more after you do that.
You want the numbers out of there because they don't suit your agenda. Older, weighed less than the weight jumping Manny on fight night and had not fought at welterweight since Gatti 7 years ago. You might be trying to pick an argument with the diehard Mayweather fans, but by limiting the argument to suit your agenda you're just as bad.
Did you read my first post? Who the hell asks for what they want to know, and then ignores the answer.
