lol, talk about being chippy. just ****ing say your observations, simple as that. if, as a *****, you see oscar being clearly much better in all aspects against floyd than just say so.

No because numbers are irrelevant. We cant prove that Oscar was better at 154 than he was at 147. Numbers are there to give us a guideline in how to predict a fight, everyone knew the numbers BEFORE the fight yet 90% still picked Oscar. We no longer need the guideline, an expert can see a fight and break it down...so break it down for me...its a simple task. What in those 2 vids do you see made the difference?

Why do you ignore the answers to your questions? Don't come here about being chippy.

Exactly, they cant watch the vid and simply break it down...so instead they repeat what announcers and journalists have said rather than watching the fight and forming their own opinion based on something solid, video of a fight.

These numbers were all well known before the fight.

Like I said, I'm tired and about to go to bed. I'll post you a response in the morning if that is ok?

But I won't be swayed in my opinion that the numbers do matter, I think by overlooking them your missing a large chunk of any argument put forward.

Not my fault you guys need help understanding styles, and then can't even get it when someone tries to help you out.

Ive read your first post and I agree with it, I pointed that same thing out in my opening post. Which is my point, Pac essentially beating the same Oscar with pac doing more damage because of his stylistic advantage.

That said, I'm looking for someone to explain the myth that is that Oscar of Floyd fight was better by giving me a breakdown of what he was doing better in that vid.

Was he faster? Was his defense better. Was his combinations better? Footwork maybe? Because...I see the same guy.

Okay, I was just waiting for you to read it.

Everyone knows that Floyd Jr is a potshotter. He played it especially safe against Oscar as it was his first trip at 154. Oscar is very good at parrying shots. Single shots can easily be picked off by parrying.

Floyd had to do more setups than usual to land.

Oscar's defense was definitely more effective against Floyd than it was manny.

Fair enough, Im about to go to bed too.

Numbers matter but IMO numbers are used to help explain the tale or predict what is about to happen. Example, I think Valuev beats Calderon because numbers say Valuev = 320lbs and Calderon = 106lbs. Example 2, Morales lost to Maidana because he was old(number).

In both cases, the numbers support the claim. However in the case that numvers doesnt support the claim, such as Pac is now 32 and been through a lot of wars, he is shot...his performances dont support that claim.

That is why I use numbers to either predict what is about to happen, or explain why something happened. We can clearly see Morales looked slower and had much less gas in the Maidana fight as he did vs MAB/Pac1 and his age plays a part to that. If Valuev fought Calderon, the numbers(weight) would be supported by the fact that Valuev would punch Calderon out of the ring.

We can say, ok Oscar was weight drained, he was 35 or whatever...but in the vid...how is this numbers supporting that claim? Is it making him slower, is his footwork slower, is his reflexes more dull?

Could Oscars defense not have seemed more leaky in the Pac figth due to the fact that Pac was throwing 5-8 punch combinations coming from different angles...so in essence he was doing setups like Floyd was but in much bigger bunches.

slowing down and not reacting as fast is a natural as someone ages

Look at the archetype for the type of boxer that people expect to trouble Floyd. They usually pick Winky Wright. Taller guy with a jab and good defense. Oscar has some similarities.

    Off to dinner now.

Personally I think Floyd schools Winky.

I might give you Oscars reaction being slower...I could kinda see that in the vid. I would also agree with the poster above that says Oscar had better conditioning in the Floyd fight.

However, by and large I think it was a very similar calibre type of fighter they fought and Pac doesnt get enough credit for this fight...considering how big of an underdog he was to the experts.
