Hardly. Many of those guys fought once or more a week. At that kind of pace unless you are a Robinson a Pep or a Greb you are going to lose. It does not follow that they should be discounted. Try to imagine if these kats today fought more then once or twice a year instead of pulling the risk and reward card every other time. **** Armstrong put up a run of 27 straight ko's in a year. That's damn near a career by today's standards.

I for one couldn't care less about guys SRR, Armstrong, Greb fighting nobodies who had 20-30 loses. Sure it packs their records but it's the meaningful fights that make them great. We also have to remember their opponents were also fighting every other week so it's an even playing field. I don't hold it against them nor did I mention the loses, obviously you can't be 100% fighting that often.

Point is you can't compare those times to that of today. I think it's very concieveable that some day a guy will come along who trumps SRR. Hell if Pacman had never lost and finished his career with Margo, Mayweather and Martinez wins that would be enough to do it for me.

Someday a guy like that will come along.

That's entirely up to you and your right you can't compare the overall group of pantie-waist primodonas of today with the likes of Greb, Robinson and many others as they pale in comparison. And like I said some of these guys that had 20 or more loses to the Atg's fought at times once, twice or thrice a week and would torch many of these coddled protected 0 worshiping fighters of today. Historians like Toledo and others do not default to Robinson as the Goat but pick Greb as do I and maybe someday someone will come along do dethrone whomever people have placed at the top but its certainly not Manny regardless of what he does next. He's not even the greatest in any division he has ever fought in.

If Greb, Armstrong and SRR were fighting today they wouldn't be fighting 12 times a year would they? Chances are they'd be one of the primadonnas you refer to. It's the evoloution of the sport, and I for one would never call guys like Pac a primadonna, but you're always going to have the Mayweathers.

I've already stated twice in this post Manny will not be the greatest however I did say he can crack the top 10. And why hold it against Manny that he choses to move up and fight at higher weights rather than doss about in a division for 3-4 years cleaning it out??

This is true. I mean dominating a division is nice but there is also something about being a multi-div champ. I mean Armstrong isn't the best in any of his 3 divisions but is universally regarded as one of the best ever.

Yeah if he did those 3 things, he would have a case. At least top 3.

Wish I had a time machine. Since many of the guys from the past were fighting for their dinner I will say that its hard to compare. I guess it would be like comparing the two different styles of farming. I don't hold it against him that he moved up. He's making 20 million a fight going after carefully picked opponents. If you could somehow beam Robinson forward in time, I submit that he very well may fight 12 times a year because of his thought process and how he viewed the game and conversely if you could beam the spoiled rich fighters of today back to his time they would be trampled if forced to fight at that pace. In fact they may very well be beaten by one of those guys with 20 or 30 loses.

Catchweight only come into contention when talking about (paper) titles. When talking about the better p4p fighter concessions are acceptable. Meeting in-between weights with Pacquiao conceding most of the advantage is a legitimate fight titles aside. You can argue about his catchweight titles but you have to at least acknowledge they are legitimate wins.

No, of course not. When did I say that? What I'm trying to say is that he's legacy as a great ATG sealed.

This thread is bull**** and disrespectful to some great fighters. Yes Pac is great but the bandwagon procession has to stop. Ray Robinson destroys Pac at Welter, as does Ray Leonard, I'd also say Roberto Duran takes him at lightweight. To say Pac could be the greatest of all time is foolish, I hope he takes an L soon so that people can stop getting carried away but then he'll always have the excuse "he moved up to high", knocked out and challenged at lower weights "Pac wasn't at his correct weight yet". He's likeable to most people and Floyd Mayweather isn't, likeability shouldn't affect anyones all time ranking otherwise Frank Bruno would be a shoe in for number 1 ATG amongst us Brits :p

It is time proven that a fighter will only be appreciated years after retirement.

They said right after Marciano's last fight, nobody ranked him anywhere near top 15. Nowaday there are some who rank him even as high as #1, after wathcing all his highlight clips

Believe me, Pac beating PBF will be viewed generously 5 to 10 years from now. Top 3 will be just about right. :good
