Floyd is still the biggest star and most skilled boxer in the sport today. Love him or hate him numbers don't lie.

Michael Jordan has the highest PPG in basketball history, but doesn't have the most points overall. He's still the scoring champion.

Iverson led the league in points per game many seasons, but missed a few games because of injuries. He didn't have the most points overall in some seasons, but he was still the scoring champion

Sadly, you're wrong, someone already agreed with me. Is that significant, no...but oh well.

The majority could not give two shits about who makes more PPV sales, they just want to see the bout. They argue over who gets more because they want to get one over on the other fans.

PPV sales are relevant for promoters. The influence fans have on the negotiations of bouts ends with them buying the last PPV.

I hope they both do shitty ppv nos til they fight. I don't get why fans of each fighter care who's more popular.

Who do you think should be the scoring champion between Kobe and Lebron?

Floyd and Pac are NOT big PPV draws, without a big name opponent.

when Floyd fought Baldomir, the PPV were a joke.
thats why floyd had DelaHoya co-promote his fights on a fight-per-fight basis, and has had to have big name undercards like Canelo, Morales, etc. to sell PPV.

when Pac fought Larios, and David Diaz, the PPV buys were a bigger joke, that now, pac needs a big name opponent and supporting undercards to sell decent.

:patsch, ur really not getting it are u? I was saying that Mayweather fights less, but generates more money when he does fight. He may generate less than Pac OVERALL because he does not take part in as many events (fights) as Pac does, but per fight he does slightly better.

I made up a scenario in which Kobe has a slightly lower point-per-game average (akin to Pac's events generating less revenue than Floyd's), but because he plays in more game than Lebron, he has more total points (i.e.-Pac generating more total revenue because he has more total event). The person who scores the most points in the season is not the scoring champ, it's the guy with the best average.

hope that clears it up a bit.

Just wondering if you can really compare the PPV numbers directly. Floyd seems to draw more per fight currently, but would that number be as high if he fought more frequently? If Pacquiao fought once per year (or less frequently), might his PPV numbers be slightly higher because you are only going to get a single chance to see him. e.g. I'm a graduate student, so money is tight; if I am not very enthusiastic about a particular Pacquiao fight I won't buy it... I just wait for his next fight since I only need to wait 6 months. If you're a Mayweather fan and aren't particularly impressed with choice of opponent, you might be compelled to buy anyway since you won't get another chance for a year (or longer if he goes on vacation).
