Too much emphasize on weight and less on Pac's actual power. If Juan was at 130lb everyone would think that his lack of defense would = Pac win. Fact is, Pac dropped MAB on the 2nd round, Morales in 3 rounds, JMM 3 times on the 1st round. On that basis, just because he doesnt have lightsout power, he still has very serious KD power. Juan will taste the canvas and once he does, he wont be as confident moving forward and that spells disaster. I personally think Guzman's speed and reflexes are much more dangerous for Pac than Diaz tenacity.
If Pac were to fight D. Diaz and win the WBC belt at 135, you think he'd fight JMM in his next fight? I actually think he's gonna go after J. Diaz if he beats David for all the marbles at 135. But of course, he's gonna have to prove he has power and speed at lightweight. If he KOs David or dominates him in a decision, I think the public will feel he has a good chance to beat Juan, so they will want that fight next. If he wins a close decision or wins in a subpar performance, I think Manny will defend the belt against JMM in the next fight instead of taking on Baby Bull right away. If he loses, well, he can always fall back on a Marquez rematch at 130 or even 135 because Marquez needs him for his own big purse/legacy cementing fight. This fight, in my opinion, will always be there. All roads least to $$$ for Pacquiao. Although I wish for his legacy, he would take on JMM right now, I have no doubt they will fight again no matter what happens with his upcoming decision.
good point, yeah Guzman may be too difficult stylistically compared to Juan D...I don't think PAC can hurt Juan D more than Freitas or Julio Diaz.
Pac-JMM 2 is official now but I will tell you reasons why Pac-Diaz makes sense as well, just for the sake of discussion: -Pac will be conquering another division -Pac gets more of less the same if he were to fight JMM on a 63-57 assumption, as Diaz will just be contented with $500K -No promotional hassles whatsoever as both are under Top Rank -JMM will then have to fight either Guzman, Juam Diaz or Valero. Not bad at all. There you go.
