No it shouldn't, and I don't know why the Pac camp would ask for it. Nonetheless, I doubt anyone will be screaming about weight drain no matter who wins or loses.

After being away from the forum and not having time to discuss the stupid ****.

Just ****ing fight for **** sake.

Both can make 147. Neither one will bulk. Move on.

who gives a ****. its not like these titles mean anything anymore anyway. I'm all for catchweights if they give us fights that we wouldn't normally get.

people who don't like catchweights are stuck in the past. sure i'd like 8 weight classes and one champion and one interim champ in each but that aint boxing no more.

That's a QFT as sad as it is.

Though I think if you want a catchweight to simply diminish the fighter because he's too heavy. What the **** are you fighting him for then?

    what does QFT mean.

its about making a fight between 2 fighters in differant weight classes. its happened for 20 years now.

Once the fights agreed, it shouldnt be mentioned again.

For cotto vs pac, pac is coming up in weight, cotto coming down. They agree 145. They agree it because they both no they can make it.

people just like to moan. If cotto destroys manny, you could say manny was bloated. Manny destroys cotto, so they say he was weight drained.

    QFT = Quote for Truth

    I'm just over it.

If you are moving up, move up. Simple as that. There is no other reason for a fighter to come down unless he can dehydrate the weight properly, or he has to cut muscle from his body.

If manny had fought a few times at 147 then fair enough but he hadn't.

Yes there was the Delahoya fight, but they took 147 cos they wanted the superfight and it was for more money than they've ever made. Not cos manny was a welter.

Many wasn't a welterweight, he had only just turned light welter, and peopple thought he was to small for that.

Everyone wanted a Manny Cotto fight, so to make it happen, they put a catch weight in.

Everyone does it. Even the boxng god Marquez does it. He wanted to fight floyd and manny, so they put catchweights in so that the fights could be made.
Cotto put one in for Margarito even though he was few fights into his 154 career!
No one gives them two ****. People (especially floyd fans) just like to abuse manny.

Judges will be easier bought off in Mexico.
Arum buying judges off does'nt make a difference where ever they fight.

I would think Arum would want the fight in Mexico. I think he'd have the audacity to say afterward, "Pacquiao beat him in Mexico, this series of fights is over!" LOL

I'd much prefer a fourth fight be fought in the Phillipines. I think the Pinoys themselves would boo the decision and boo Pacquiao out of the arena if he had the audacity to claim to the pinoy fans he beat Marquez when clearly he did'nt! :deal

Hold the 4th fight in the Phillipines I'd say and let Pacquiao get booed out of his own country! :yep

I think this is the fight that finally kills of Mayweather vs Pacamn,Marquez will win a close decison which will probably mean a fifth fight then.

No mate. People who don't like catchweights are more prone to being modern fans; it happens a lot less now than it used to do.

Catchweights have always happened throughout boxing history and for two main reasons: 1) to get guys in different divisions fighting each other; 2) so a champion didn't have to risk his belt.

For instance some guys would force the challenger to come in 1 pound above the divisional limit purely so the belt weren't at risk. I wanna say e.g. Pete Herman v Jackie Sharkey from top of my head but i'm not hundred percent sure without checking it.

Catchweights allow fights to happen and in an ideal world every fight would be at a divisional limit but that's never how boxing has worked. It's just that now it's so publicised with the whole ******* v ***** debate that everyone suddenly thinks they're a big deal.

Till I began researching boxing I hated catchweights but now I know they've always been there it's kinda made me see it's not a big deal.

At the end of the day a fighter doesn't have to accept the deal.

No I dont think most pinoys are *******s. I know plenty of Pinoys personally who have said to me Pacquiao is lucky Arum rigged his fights with Marquez.

.....and I think that most Pinoys would not stomach having Pacquiao get his hands raised crying on their soil and act as if he's the rightful winner.
I dont think Pinoys in the actual moment and seeing it live would stomach it honestly!

You have to realize here that in the Phillipines, the arena would be stone quiet for the better part of the fight seeing Pacquiao repeatedly get his head snapped back!
How do you stomach a bogus decision after this scenario? You dont!
