Pac-man is at the top of his game right now, so is Floyd. But- STYLES MAKE FIGHTS ESB Fans don't be fooled by this fight. This is the worst fight in the world stylistically for Pac-man. Please don't be fooled by the hype. Pac-man has a punchers chance against Mayweather, that's it. He will not be able to out box Mayweather. He will not have a significant speed advantage over Mayweather. (All real boxing fans know: timing always beats speed. One of Floyds best punches is his lead right hand - and he is deadly accurate with it ( All real boxing fans know that when fighting a southpaw, the punch to throw is the lead right hand. I've broken down tape of Pac-man, and compiled a list of things that work against him. In his lost to Erik Morales in 05' Morales jabbed him, counter punched, and controlled distance all night long. In Pac-mans second fight against Marquez in 08' , Marquez countered him all night long, but failed to effectively control distance. In the Cotto fight, Cotto's jab was snapping Pac-man's head early on in the fight. Cotto, however could not control distance or effectively counter punch, not to mention he's not much of a defensive fighter or counter puncher Gentlemen, and Gentle ladies, the game plan to beating Pac-man is: Fast Accurate Jabbing (controls distance and counters speed), Crisp Accurate Counter Punching, (deters combination punching) Tight Defense (Demoralizing, sets up counter punches) Movement (Allows for the utilization of angles, and counter punching opportunities) Fast Accurate Lead Right Hands (Controls Distance, keeps fighters off balance, while enhancing the effectiveness of your jab) I've broken down the tape and this is what works against Pac-man. The problem is there are only a handful of fighters who have ALL the necessary tools to beat him. Enter Mayweather. Mayweather does all of these things exceptionally well, not to mention he has a reach advantage, tremendous speed, underrated power and boxing smarts. This is a terrible, terrible fight for Pac-man. ESB fans you have too much boxing savvy to overlook these obvious points. I give Pac-man a punchers chance. He has a slim to none chance of landing a fight ending punch against a clever defensive minded Mayweather. Slim to none chance, and slim just left town. What say you ESB fans?
YOUR THREAD TITLE MUCH BETTER THAN MINE Floyd is 5'8 and walk around at 158-159 or so...Pac is 5'6 and walk around about 151-152 (approx for both fighters)....Floyd is mos definitley the "bigger man" at the shoulders...but Floyd isn't a real physical fighter so his size isn't as big of an advantage as it was for say....... Cotto... The one thing I notice in these 2 fighters is the difference in reach...If you ever been to a boxing gym and sparred than you know that if your the "taller man" and your the "boxer" (especially with the longer reach) than your USUALLY told to stay on the outside, jab, circle away from the southpaw power and boom throw the straight right and finish with the left hook .. OF COURSE IT DONT ALWAYS WORK LIKE THAT--Look at Ruslan Chagev in his win over Valuev...Valuev held an 85 to 74 inch reach advantage and Chagev still found a way to get inside and work to get the obvious W which he earned.... **** even OSCAR HAD A LONGER REACH THAN MANNY AT 73 IN COMPARISON TO MANNY AT 67 AND MANNY DISMANTLED OSCAR...COTTO WAS EVEN BTW AT 67... TOMMY HEARNS HAD THE REACH OVER SRL WITH A 78-74 ADVANTAGE BUT GOT BEAT... I'M TRYING TO GET SOME THOUGHTS ON THIS MEGA FIGHT IN WHAT YOU THINK EACH FIGHTER HAS TO OFFER THE OTHER FIGHTER WHEN IT COMES TO PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES LIKE REACH ADVANTAGES, HEIGHT, WEIGHT, AS WELL AS EACH FIGHTERS IQ IN THE RING... I believe that if Floyd fights tall than he keeps Manny away. I think Floyd knows how to fight to use his reach at a huge advantage..Oscar didn't use his height much in his fight....(He hunched over a lot and give his height away thus he also wasn't throwing cuz manny was hurting him WHEN HE WOULD THROW)..Floyd knows how to fight tall and he knows how to not let his opponent get angles...He knows how to keep fighters in front of him..not saying he wont get caught cuz fighters do get caught and FMJ can lose to manny pac just as easily as manny pac can lose to FLOYD...I RECOGNIZE THIS... BUT WHAT IS LIL PAC GONNA DO WHEN HE CANT FIND ANGLES AND HE CANT GET PAST FLOYDS JAB (WHICH ISN'T A BAD JAB AT ALLAT ALL-FLOYDS JAB TO THE BODY IS VERY EFFECTIVE)??? I JUST THINK TECHNICALLY FLOYD WILL WIN THIS FIGHT USING HIS PHYSICAL ADVANTAGES AND I THINK FLOYD KNOWS HOW TO USE HIS PHYSICAL ADVANTAGES BETTER THAN PAC KNOWS HOW TO USE HIS PHYSICAL ADVANTAGES...
Mayweather's over-rated defense has never faced someone who will throw punches at him from all angels. Your girlfriend will get KOed with in 2 rounds
Alternate is my guess. Pac's got alot more than a puncher's chance in my opinion. He doesnt tire and could very well end up pressuring Floyd into having to throw in order gain some rounds. If that happens, look out canvas. Floyd is disciplined enough to resist that temptation, but then he runs the risk of being outpointed based on Pac's work rate. I don't think potshotting will get him a decision in this one. He is great, but Floyd might have to change his gameplan a little too. Not as much as Pac, but it's definitely a competitive fight and could easily go either way. Can't wait.
Floyds D is mos def not "overrated" ...the man never been dropped (-1 for the breaking of the hand)..its very rare that an opponent lands flush.... say what you want BUT UR SHOWIN U JUSS A HATER WHEN U SAYIN BULL**** LIKE THAT....SAY HE DUCKING AND BLAH BLAH...HIS "D" IS TOP OF THE GAME MAN...KNOW UR **** IF U COME ON HERE ACTIN LIKE U KNOW ****..DONT JUST BLURT OUT STUPID OPINIONS WITHOUT PUTTING SOME LOGIC BEHIND UR POST :deal Pac has never faced someone who TAKES ANGLES AWAY FROM FIGHTERS BY USING GOOD AND FAST FOOTWORK! FLOYDS FOOTWORK IS TECHNICALLY ALOT MORE SOUND THAN LIL MANNY TOO...
Mayweather has NEVER faced a fighter like Pacquiao. Pacquiao has NEVER faced a fighter like Mayweather.
LMFAO:rofl:rofl:rofl A "BEATING" IS HARDLY WHAT HE GOT LIL GUY...PAC GAVE "COTTO" A BEATING SATURDAY NIGHT...U SHOULD GO BACK AND WATCH THE FLOYD FIGHTS WITH CASTILLO AND OSCAR AND YOU'LL SEE T WAS NO "BEATING"...I RESPECT THAT U DONT APPRECIATE HIS DEFENSE BUT AGAIN...U HAVE 0 FACTS TO BACK UR ****....DID OSCAR OR CASTILLO DROP FLOYD? OK, FLOYD WAS KD BY ZAB..IT WASN'T AS IF HE WAS HURT OR HIS DEFENSE WAS CRACKED THERE ANYWAYS....HE WAS COMING FORWARD AND ZAB CAUGHT HIM... I KNOW MY **** MAN U SHOULD KNOW UR FACTS BEFORE U GET ON HERE WITH MEANINGLESS POSTS THAT JUSS TAKE UP SPACE ON ESB:hi:
Good post!:good It's true that that Mayweather is one of the best defensive boxer in the sport today, but it's undeniable that Pacquiao is one of the best offensive boxer in the sport . You used an old material the Morales fight in which Pacquiao was still green. If you really paid attention to that fight was not one-sided. I don't think the commentators during the fight will disagree with my last statement. Morales was also getting tag while moving backwards. I'm giving Pacquiao a chance here is my reasons: 1.) He wasn't a heavy hitter when he was still a 130. He was like Pacquiao who gets a KO by slowly damaging their opponents. Pacquiao has more power than Mayweather. Like you said Pacquiao (anyboxer) has a punchers chance. If Pacquiao hits Mayweather like he hit Cotto, Mayweather will be in pain. If you really wanna analyze Pacquiao, you should start after he moved from 130. That's when he stopped starving himself to make weight and gained the strength that he needed to fight at the higher weight class. 2.) IMO,Mayweather's endurance has never really been tested in the higher weight class. I'm aware that he has a good defense but how will Mayweather react if he is hit by a solid power punch. Pacquiao's endurance has been test many times and the myth about his body being weak is now proven false. He let Cotto hit his body and acted like nothing happened. Pacquiao's endurance is good. 3.) Yes, lead-right shots are the best weapon against a south-paws, but a south paws best weapon against an orthodox fighter is his lead-left hand. You shouldn't underrate Pacquiao's right hand as well. He's been using it a lot not unlike before when he only had the leaning left straight to win his fights. If you hadn't notice he used it a lot to counter Cotto's left jabs while moving to the side. 4.)IMO when his opponents are throwing lots of punches and combinations doesn't really counter effectively. Mayweather focus more on dodging the punches and moving away. Marquez was countering Pacquiao but he was still getting tagged. If Mayweather has the balls to counter Pacquiao while Pac is throwing his combinations Mayweather will get tagged and get hurt. Anyway, you are right stylistically Mayweather has the advantage. Mayweather's timing is good! But in-terms of speed Pacquiao has the slight advantage. Don't get me wrong I know Mayweather is fast but I think Pacquiao is faster. May's one punch = Pac's 2punch. Mayweather's advantages over Pacquiao: Height/Size advantage Technicality Body movement Reach Pacquiao's advantage over Mayweather: Speed Power Foot work Pacquiao has experience against boxers who likes duck or fights low. Lucero is an example. I know there is hardly any similarity in Lucero (forward-figther) and Mayweather's style but they both like to duck their head really low.
if pac can turn it into a brawl and all out slugfest he should win, but chances of that happening are slightly low id say... if they box then mayweather will win
Good post. I really think that if Pac-May fight Mayweather will try to outbox Pacquiao. I don't think Mayweather really use his physical advantages very well. I mean he fought Marquez but he didn't even impose that he is the bigger man. He could've probably used his size advantage to pressure Marquez but he didn't. IMO, Pacquiao can become an out-boxer, he has the tools to do it but choose to brawl with all the boxers he faces the he fights to entertain the crowd. :bbb Oh if you were Pacquiao how would you use your physical advantages? What physical advantages does he have against Mayweather?
