Pac-Margarito. My official prediction on who will win, and what types of punches...

In this thread I will try to answer all of your posts as I respect some of you guys insight, and if I don't answer your post, it's because I missed your comment, I probably don't respect your boxing opinion on boxing-no disrespect since I am everyone, and I am no one!

Boxing Synopsis: Mexico against the Phillipines!

This fight is a very tough fight to call. Margo, even though he is slow, is 5' 11. PAc is a lil over 5'6. The height and reach is going to be a detriment to Pac. Margo isn't a strong puncher, but he is a volume puncher. Style wise, this is the type of fight that both thrive in. PAc loves a brawl. When Pac is fighting this way, he never gets tired. Margo doesn't get tired either. Both love to come forward, but PAc does it with a cerebral approach. Margo does it in a aggressive, stalking way.

PAc has improved his stamina tremendously. As he gets older, he can even ropeadope when he gets a bit tired. PAc still has his speed, but I wonder if he is in this fight mentally. What people fail to realize is that motivation plays a big part in your fight game. Margo is motivated!

Margarito is a hungry fighter. The world hates him, and he has this "me against the world" mentality-but Mexicans love him. I respect that. I didn't see Margo's last fight, but from what I read, Margo wasn't motivated. Well, he is now.

Strategy:

Pac's straight left, right hook may be the best combo punch in the sport. It comes fast and hard, and unexpected. PAc has also improved his right hook. On the menu against Margarito, straight punches is how PAc will attack Margs. Baiting hooks will be testing Margos reaction, and then "WHAM" hard, straight punches is what you'll see from Pac. Body punching will set up the head shots. Pac has added the ropeadope style which I think is big considering that he is getting older, and as you get older, you dig in and stay with shots.

Margo loves to throw the right then left uppercut. He leads more with the left uppercut. Margo will throw 2,3,4 uppercuts in a row if you sit on the ropes like Cotto did. Margo also is a good body puncher on little guys. The jab is a bit underrated as well as I know his trainer will emphasize that shot to get closer to Pac.

Prediction:

PAc by ko.

As PAc gets older, he gets more flat footed. This fight PAc will find out that he has a slower guy in front of him who he can hit at will all night. One thing that is dangerous about Margs is that he can punch with either hand...so if PAc comes rushing in, Margo can time him. Can Margo time PAc? No! Can Margo out tough PAc-no!

I just don't see how Margs can stay center ring with Pac. PAc is going to stay center ring turning Margs while hooking the body, and throwing straight punches to the body. Shane found out that Margs couldn't take a body shot. When PAc hits the ropes, he is going to also be careful, and he will look to Margs body and then coming up to the head with straight and strong punches. Margo has to fight the fight of his life because Manny is a very tough guy.

Margo is coming forward full throttle with hands up, jabs and uppercuts which is what he has to do. Margos 5'11 height and frame will keep him out of harms way for a while until he gets careless. Margo has to stay disciplined and not give away rounds. Pac might dominate the early rounds, but during that time Margo can't let Pac punish him in those early rounds. If Margo can stay fresh, and force the fight into the latter rounds, he has a chance. That won't happen.

PAc is just too fast and too strong for Margo, and will break him down late in the fight. Pac tko in 10...

Both will get props from me, but you know me lol... It always depends on how the fight goes.

Pac got this one sewed up...i expect him to look pretty good and will land any and every punch he chooses to throw.

I see it that way also, but Margs is motivated...and anything can happen in those types of fights.

well, im a pacfan because of his abilities and success, but even more, i keep an objective view....

I thought it was just a cut & dry fight w/ Pacquiao massacring Margarito. But after watching HBO's 24/7 access, that really changed my opinion.

I think this may be Pacman's most dangerous fight to date, and may prove tougher than his JMM nemesis.

I strongly believe Margarito will give a very competitive fight -
*excellent new trainer, Robert Garcia - if margo has the ability to learn new tricks like Pacquiao has, this will be a key to prolonged success.

*he may be trained to use his reach FOR ONCE, instead of being a pressure brawler. He'll still be a pressure fighter, but use his range & footwork now and keep Manny stuck in No Man's Land

*SSM proved that the classic way of stopping Margo works, hit the tree trunk and it will bow and fall. Looked like his trainer was REALLY working his midsection hard. IF Margo isnt hurtable or fatigueable downstairs.... well, he's not really hurtable anywhere

*Margo has something to prove BIGTIME! This is a fight for redemption, to show he can win without "unknowingly" cheating (give me a break!). Great motivation to put in 110%, not that he doesnt give 100% in any other of his fights.... but he'll have EXTRA heart, i believe.

I put in all my vcash on Pacquiao KO'ing within 9, but this may go the distance....

Where I see the problem here is Margo's height. Being that much taller than Pac, he will have to bend at the waist considerably to get to Pac's body or risk Pac absorbing the shot around his elbows if he keeps his usual guard.

When he bends to throw the body shot, he will telegraph it. I see Pac side stepping and throwing an over hand right the lands flush on the side of Margo's face.

If Pac can put AM down with a hook, then AM is in real trouble. AM won't have to bend that much to land a body shot except if he tries this center ring with PAc which he won't. Now on the ropes, AM doesn't have to bend a lot as the Cotto fight shows. AM gets leverage on his shots anyway because he is heavy handed. Decent tall fighters imo get maximum leverage throwing body shots regardless.

Marg throws a lot of punches with his feet set before throwing the punch. marg will catch another one of those punches that pac throws from weird angles. Remember round 4 against cotto, the punch that you don't see coming hurt you the most.

Thats what im thinking. One of easiest punches to counter is the uppercut which we all know Margo throws plenty of and with his lack of speed i can see Pac setting up a big shot with his speed. Ala the Hatton left hook. However i dont think Margarito will stay down if he does go down.

I did not catch the press conference/weigh in. I read a couple of posts from you guys saying that PAc weighed in at 144, and Margs 149... Is this true? How did they look? Did Pac look like he was off the PED's...kidding, and did Margs look gaunt? I'm going to try to catch it late night on ESPN EST.

I like this outlook though...:good The uppercut isn't an easy punch to counter imo, but it could be for Pac in this fight because he will be mph faster than Margs...

Naw, they looked good. In my opinion I think Margarito probably could of handled 147 no problem. He's going to be ready. Manny better be ready. It was his decision to come in light. I didn't think it'd be 144 though. That is kind of troubling. He better use his superior speed and don't get caught up in a brawl until Margarito is worn down a bit. :thumbsup
