I hear people complaining that JMM/Katsidis only did a live gate of about 5,000. And now b/c of this JMM doesn't deserve the fight. Please take into consideration that it was a holiday weekend. Ward - Bika also did around 5,00 and Ward has done double that in the past.

Pac/Marg had a live paid gate of 30,000. This was a heavily promoted fight. Pac - JMM 3 would do just as good if not better.

  2. It could definitely do better. All of Mexico would be behind Marquez because he has Pac figured out. Their first two fights were close. The Mexicans demand this fight. A lot of people in Mexico don't like Margarito. With the right promotion this fight could be huge.

There used to be a big rivalry between Tijuana and Mexico City because of Morales-Barrera.

Heard the live gate was 43K for PAC/Marg.:? JMM/PAC would proabably do more in gate and PPV b/c JMM is a bigger name for sure both in the states and MX. But Shane is anther story. For PPV's Shane will bring in more buys with his name on the A side of the card. Plus Shane is seen as more of a threat given Shane is natrually stronger, bigger and faster even if he is a few yrs older.

On the night of the fight, attendance was announced at 41,734 -- far short of 50,000 and far less than what Pacquiao's fight there in March drew against Joshua Clottey.

In reality, Pacquiao-Margarito drew 40,154, according to the official report provided to ESPN.com by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation under an open records request.

Of those 40,154 tickets, 9,717 were comps, according to the report, meaning the fight had a paid attendance of 30,437

I don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility that a third Pac-JMM fight, if correctly promoted, could exceed the 40,000 tickets sold for the Clottey fight.

I'd be surprised if it didn't at least equal the 30,000 for Marg.

Yes they did, 30,437 paid attendance
Here's the breakdown of the tickets sold for Pacquiao-Margarito, according to the Texas official report with the number of tickets sold in each category with the total gross for that category:

    • 2,475 @ $700 = $1,732,500 • 1,687 @ $500 = $843,500 • 14 @ $ 400 = $5,600 • 2,087 @ $300 = $626,100 • 61 @ $250 = $15,250 • 2,496 @ $200 = $499,200 • 445 @ $150 = $66,750 • 866 @ $125 = $108,250 • 9,536 @ $100 = $953,600 • 300 @ $75 = $22,500 • 1,272 @ $60 = $76,320 • 8,727 @ $50 = $436,350 • 471 @ $40 = $18,840

That number is actually less than the Clottey numbers. What happened to all of marg's blindly patriotic Mexican following?

Clottey didnt bring in those fans.

Arum and Oscar tricked many fans into beleiving that Margarito would be on the undecard, since Margarito is a box-office draw, and holds the record of selling out the STAPLES CENTER in LA when he fought an unfair fight with a cheating/ EPO steroid "juiced up" Mosley that night.

but many of the tens of thousands of fans were stuck with non-refundable tickets, cause one of the sale terms is: CARD SUBJECT TO CHANGE, and, to "add insult to injury", they were forced to watch a FIXED FIGHT too.

Arum and Oscar have tricked and cheated fans.
