Pac - Marquez 5 - who wins ?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by David Hanssen, Oct 9, 2014.

  1. In a potential Pacquiao vs. JMM V, there's two ways to spin it

    1. "Pacquiao is looking for revenge for his KO loss."
    2. "JMM wants to prove once and for all he’s better than Pacquiao."
Either way, what fascinates me is that this series is truly one of the most important in boxing history, especially when you visit it’s context. For a 12 year period, MAB, Morales, JMM, and Pacquiao all fought each other in some of the most legendary fights (with the exception of JMM vs. Morales). All of them were dramatic. All of them defined our era.
Mixed in with the four of them were other great fighters such as Junior Jones, Prince Naseem Hamed, etc. Yet what made all these men legendary is that when they fought each other it was dynamite. Pacquiao vs. Marquez was the final exclamation point—and one of the most shocking moments I’ve experienced as a boxing fan.

Jmm can be outboxed, but only by an elite defensive minded fighter. The old warhorse is still to dangerous to go toe to toe with. Pacman impressed me with his performance in the rematch against Bradley, he has improved abit as a boxer. But he is easily lured into wars, where Jmm has always had the advantage. Anyways, we know what happens when it goes the distance, and that's a W for Pacman.

Well, the last fight ended pretty damn decisively. I'm not sure either have regressed or progressed much more than the other either way since, so I would stick to Marquez winning, who in my opinion has clearly gotten the better of Pacquiao time and time again.

the real question is "is there a need for pac/jmm5?" and the answer is no. jmm erased all doubt in the 4th fight.

Im not sure why everyone's responses need to be based on biased personal agendas.
For one, im a big fan of both fighters.

I think they both contributed plenty in the trilogy & I for one could watch another 4 of their fights tbh. Nor would I care who won.

But, in saying that. I think if they did have a 5th fight (im all for it!) then it would be another classic that I personally believe, would end with a decision for Pacquiao, however Marquez did not FLUKE that punch, so the chance of him landing that punch is always there.

The 4th fight showed everything their trilogy reflects. Excitement, anticipation, a crafty counter puncher going toe to toe with a pressure fighter with a style like no other. Pacquiao showing great pressure and having Marquez in deep waters. Marquez showing his heart and the intelligence of the man as a fighter. He timed Pacquiao with the shot the knocked him old cold. It was no fluke, it was no lucky punch, neither was the one earlier in the fight.

I would happily watch another fight. Pacquiao had Marquez in all sorts of trouble in the last 2 rounds of that fight & Marquez was landing crisp hard shots that in the end, stopped the fight. I dont know anyone who wouldn't want to see a fight like that. Regardless of who the fighters are.

Yer really a lucky punch when there is footage of him flooring someone in sparring with that very same 'lucky punch'.

All the lead up to the fight he was saying he will not leave it up to the judges, as we already knew what happened there and was going for the knockout.

The lead up to the hatton knockout, there was footage of pac and roach doing the roll under when hatton c ocked his left. Was that a lucky punch too. No. Exactly the same.

And don't say this is different because he was getting his ass handed to him before the knockout because that is bs. and remember hatton was winning that round by a mile before he was laid out Haha

*Edit - Sorry it may have been the left

    Hahah

Which one do you think was lucky?

The knockout in round 6 or the knockdown in round 3?

For finding Memo. For the first 36 rounds no KD/KO ?

An almost 40 yr old boxer had a KD and KO in just six rounds ?

    Don't be naive.

    Get outta here.
Sensible posts like this DO NOT belong here in ESB.
You should at least mention things like JMM was on PED's or that Pac was getting beat pillar to post the entire fight and was nowhere near giving JMM any trouble to gain some credibility.
