so pacquiao fighting the top welterweights make no sense, and martinez looking to unify at middleweight makes no sense as well, correct? this thread is dumb as hell.

If they do fight at 154 with no catchweight, Pac is going to sleep just like williams. If they fight under that for some ******ed/suspect reason then Pac might have a shot late.

doesn't make any sense when pac is not even a legit welter while martinez fights at the supermiddle limit. that's clearly a difference of 3 weight classes there.

no I don't, because it makes no sense. martinez coming down to 147 pounds is just as unlikely at this point as mayweather taking a fight with pacquiao. also, there still is juan manuel marquez, who, regardless what anyone says, arguably won both of his fights with pacquiao, therefore making him deserving of a third clash.

its basically PAC vs MARTINEZ @ 160 for the fight of the decade IMO

you have PAC, the most skilled, fastest, toughest, meanest, fighter out there under 160

you have martinez, a slickster who looks like he is black because he is so slick he looks like he is covered in OIL... but he is the best fighter 154 and above......

So you have the 2 most talented fighters under 160 going at it...

I dont include mayweather because he wants special rules....LOL aka scared

okay, in your personal dreamland, pacquiao versus martinez at 160 pounds is a fight that should and would happen. outside of your dreamland, pacquiao has expressed that his optimal fighting weight is even below 147. pac's entire camp knows that his speed is the key to every one of his victories. but yeah, him going up to middleweight is something he should do.

how much credit do you think he would get if he won the title at MW off sergio? that would be at the limit, not a catchweight.

he would get tremendous credit, he'd be hailed as one of the best ever, but it's crazy to think the fight is even possible at the middleweight limit, when given the history of not just pacquiao, but his camp's own recognition of his body and its strengths and weaknesses, one of them being him coming into fights with added bulk. him going up to middleweight would represent the heaviest he has ever walked into a fight, by far. because of this, I doubt pac's camp and arum are even considering going the martinez route, especially when he can make tens of millions fighting legitimate opponents at or near his size.

that is what they tried telling leonard. this fight as you say would make him a genuine ATG. much more so than a win over shane or bradley would

first of all, in the eyes of many he is already a genuine ATG, and this isn't just coming from "*******s". Leonard and Pacquiao aren't the same fighter, end of story. it was a completely different set of circumstances that led ray leonard to sign the fight with hagler, like there is a totally different set of circumstances that dictate why pacquiao vs martinez at the middleweight limit is implausible. a great dream fight to ponder upon though.

a lot of fighter are ATG, but manny is one of the few who has a real chance to become a concensus top 10 fighter.

it is a different set of circumstances, it is implausible, it is a challenge. but just imagine the plaudits. 9 division champion. going rom flyweight to middleweight. its the stuff dreams are made of, you're right. and if anyone is having that dream it will be manny.

scour the boxing world and you will know that there's probably about three concensus top p4p fighters, and even they are trashed in some boxing circles.

I dont think manny will be having that dream. he is more than comfortable with his legacy, he's expressed it time after time. If he's saying he doesn't need mayweather, the guy everyone considered to be second, or first best before martinez's ko win, what makes you think he's gonna think he needs martinez? I think this is dream that you HOPE manny will be having, not what's actually going to be the case.
