I believe it's the biggest one day event.

The world cup finals (i.e. The final two) and the beijing olympics closing ceremonies are both one day events :)

Im intersted to see how many buys this fight does but I just dont get the feeling it will do so well I havent liked the Fight Camp (although I did like it for the super 6)

Plus I think HBO do a relative good job an doubt CBS/Showtime will out perform them.

Not to mention hardcore fans arent that excited by this and I know casual fans arent with exception that Manny is involved.

    I say 900K - 1.1 M

I'm not saying the SB is the biggest thing in the world, obviously it's not. However, it is the biggest single day sporting event. The Olympics ceremony isn't even a sporting event, and the WC is not a single day event.

    Don't be an *******, Trebek.

Anyways, this arguing over the SB is counter to the point. Why are events like the SB, Olympics, WC on TV while Boxing is not? Instead chatting about how great it'd be if Boxing was televised to everyone, ya wanna bull**** over how Americans think X is whatever? GTFO.

In terms of annual sporting events the champions league final and super bowl are the top two and its usually pretty close.

And everyone thinks the world resolves around them. I mean Europeans are too quick to forget that well over half the world's population couldn't given a flying **** about football.

China, Japan, korea a lot of african teams, plenty of south american teams, russia all put forward very good teams for the world cup. That pretty much makes up most of the world, interested in football. Im not even a football fan.

i think they are referring to revenue generation. Superbowl is second to none. The 30 second slot for advertisement run in tens of millions of dollars, and that is just a 30 second advertisement.

No way though that it outperforms the world cup in terms of audience or viewers, not even 1/10 that of world cup, especially the final.

but about revenue, you wonder why the players are being locked out. you know damn well Pacquiao is going to be asking for a big slice of the advertisement revenue on top of the purse. I don't think NFL players get a dime from all that money generated. I know for a fact NFL owners get paid a ton for the superbowl even if there team isn't in.

I think in boxing its easy to put in the advertisements. You put them all to the buildup of the fight. You don't put it between rounds. You can't do it like the old days.

There's a lot wrong with the NFL, and it's not just about current player salaries. The NFL has an abysmal pension program, **** if you could call it that.

But all that's aside from the point that we all want Boxing back on national TV in the US. No more PPV = Boxing for everyone, all around the world.

Teams do get part of the revenue generated from the superbowl, just like the football in europe.

As to whether part of it goes to the players, I doubt it because they are on fixed salaries that won't violate team cap limits. However, depending on how the laws are interpreted, bonuses might not be part of the salary cap.

I know of a player who gets a certain bonus each time he scores a goal.

There is a drawback in boxing when it comes to advertisement. It is unpredictable. A fight might last less than 6 minutes and the advertiser might have to keep on re-airing their advertisement even after there is no more fight, or it might be a snoozefest like the Bradley-Alexander and it kills the purpose of advertising for the certain corporation. Imagine if there is a major sponsor with the Pac and Hatton fight. What are they going to air after the knockout?

Boxing does not have salary cap so that revenue rule does not apply.

Here's the thing with Pacquiao. He's a f'n superstar. He's GOT to cash out and bring boxing back to the masses. Hopefully his success could do that. A lot like what Bird,Magic and MJ did for the NBA.
