You can't give a significant portion of PPV revenue to a fighter if he is not financially investing in the fight (a la Mayweather Promotions/MP Promotions).

$40 Million is a very good offer since Pacquiao is too broke to invest in the fight himself. Problem is Arum wants to be an investing party via Top Rank but Floyd doesn't need him so that is what is holding up the fight. Manny is definitely OK with $40 million.

Doesn't Matter...People go to Vegas to party/gamble and not necessarily attend boxing matches...especially on Cinco De Mayo. Dallas is a metropolitan city where such a major even is bound to sell out.

Also, Pacquiao fights do not get played in movie theaters. If they did, his PPV numbers would be even lower (i.e. Potential theatergoers watch it on PPV because it isn't available on the big screen).

I watched the Mayweather fight in Theaters and it was packed.

Also, the test is an issue because there shouldn't be anything to hide...not because Floyd insists on it. Such a strong anti-test stance is weird and suspicious.

all the junior business men on this thread supporting floyd or manny with their regurgitated ppv numbers, cuts, what each deserves, ppv revenue, purse spilt, % of the gate, who promotes it...all of this stuff and 99% never made it out of high school. but they know whats fair and how things work.... this is genius

It doesn't matter what they pocket, what matters is what they generate. Floyd is ahead here, but not by so much that he can throw out ridiculous offers like that one.

Under 50/50 Floyd still walks away with way more than Pac. The $40m vs 22.5m comparison is wrongheaded since you forgot to subtract Arum's 27% (?), in reality it's not much more than he got for JMM.

Yes, Pac is an idiot for getting ripped off by Arum, would he be less of an idiot if he let Floyd rip him off as well?

Manny Pacquiao had a very fair case for a 50/50 in the first negotiations...

UP TO THAT POINT, FLOYD RECOGNIZED HIS HIGHEST PAYDAY WAS ONLY $1,200,000 MORE THAN PACQUIAO'S HIGHEST PAYDAY, THUS HE AGREED TO 50/50.

Since the first negotiations, Floyd has brought in De La Hoya numbers...He has beaten Oscar's highest purse of $23,300,000 (Oscar's guarantee to fight floyd in 2007) and did $32,000,000.

There is your reason as to WHY 50/50 USED TO BE FAIR, BUT IS NO LONGER FAIR.

Floyd was even with Manny at the time...his highest purse was barley $1,200,000 MORE than Pac's highest purse of $25,000,000 at the time.:deal

would you care to post Pac's numbers....He doesn't have a single fight in the top 5 revenue...

Top 5 on revenue are as follows

    1 De La Hoya Mayweather
    2 Cotto Mayweather
    3 Ortiz Mayweather
    4 Mosley Mayweather
    5 Lewis Tyson

I could care less about Pac giving Arum 27.5%...that has 0 to do with anything.

PPV + gate = main revenue generators. Are you saying Floyd outsells Pac by 100%+, to deserve better than 67/33, say?

You may not care about Arum's cut, but people that matter in this do. You understand that when Arum makes Pac a guarantee of $25m on a TR promoted show, Pac has no further liability to TR? If Mayweather makes a guarantee to Pac, Arum still has to get paid. What you're doing is like comparing pre and post tax income.

Pacquiao knows his worth and what he brings to the table. He also knows how important the PPV and fight revenue % will be in a fight expected to break PPV and fight revenue records. He is on video breaking into laughter at Mayweather's offer of 0% on the revenue whenever it was mentioned. He knows he outsold Floyd in 2 of the last 3 years, his fights generating more money in those years.

If the fight does 3-4 million buys Pacquiao will be half-way responsible for that, who is going to deny that? The Mayweather-Cotto split apparently was 65-35, and Cotto is not even half the draw Pacquiao is, so why shouldn't Pacquiao stick to 50-50 based on that?

With the Mayweather-Cotto fight being a huge success, Mayweather now has a stronger case for getting more, but it would have to be something reasonable like 52-48 to accurately reflect the difference in the past few years. I don't think Pac would take even 45-55, because he knows in a fight that shatters records the 10% is a lot of money to be giving up to Floyd. He said he is not worried about the gaurantee and willing to take less than Floyd, that should be what they negotiate
