Oscar is just a part-time boxer. If Pac wins its more proof that Oscar is completely shot and unmotivated than proof that Pac is a great fighter.
Yes, Oscar is a businessman and has ben so for the last years. In periods he tries to pull himself together and get back into a fight if the money is big - but really it is not exactly the same as being a full-time boxer.
If what he is trying to accompplish is deemed so impossible, then he should be ranked in equal manner. Some people make out like what hes trying to do is equivalent to Calderon beating Klitschko, should Calderon do that he would be rated #1 p4p of all time. Sorry but a certain member of ESB got LAUGHED at and called all sort of names for even suggesting the fight, yet alone winning the fight. Quite frankly, those same people shouldnt have any other opinion but to rank Pac top 10 ATG. Not saying that he is, but if youre gonna go into extreme of opinion in Pac chances of winning the fight, then you should be equally in extreme of praises for Pac when he does prove you wrong.
True. However, it would be dumb to write Pac out. This is given Oscar being a businessman these days.
I agree, there is no easy way. I mentioned that because some posters have posted at one point "their list", which is pretty much a copy cat of other lists you can find on the internet, but they say "my list". I just wanted to see the contradictions. It is really difficult to create a list like that and that's why I don't understand when people just trough in there any number to rank a particular boxer. I have seen your list, and I can tell you that you have done your homework, it looks pretty decent, solid and different than the rest. I remember when you challenged Pacd and he didn't know what to do with it. :rofl If we take your list, then we can say that Pac does not belong there, and you have left out great/decent boxers. Personally I have never prepared such list, and probably I never will... It requires a lot of knowledge, and also time to put together all the info, and very lucky if I can get the data, specially for boxers from other decades/eras I think a list of 35 like yours is ok, maybe up to 50 still ok, but after that we might end up contradicting ourselves. :good
so at this point in time, you still has morales and barrera ahead of pacquiao in your ATG list when arguably, pacquiao's resume had already surpassed both of them. and it is laughable that you would only put pac at 60-70 after he beats oscar which most of you thinks is a really impossible task for pacquiao.
"BH – In my opinion Manny is in a win, win situation. If he wins against Oscar, obviously it sets up big money to fight Mayweather or Hatton. If he loses, he lost to a legend in De La Hoya, a bigger De La Hoya. His stock doesn't drop at all in my book. FR – We're not just doing this for money. Manny and I want to beat Oscar; he's a legend. A win over Oscar puts Manny at a whole new level. If he wins he will go down as not only the greatest Asian fighter of all time, but he will go down as a top 10 greatest fighter of all time. It's a calculated risk, and I know Manny can do this. He can pull off a perfect fight, and I know it's a lot harder than fighting Oscar Diaz, but does Oscar really want to put it out there like he did when he was younger? When Oscar fought Steve Forbes, I just didn't see him doing that great. I disagree with those who though Oscar looked good; I think if Forbes was busier he could have won that fight." Quote from Freddy Roach interview. I would personally put Pac top 20 ATG if he does beat ODLH, and I think when time has passed and people become more nostalgic of the past, they will too. Should Pac beat ODLH, he would IMO have surpassed resumes of the likes of Marvin Hagler, which many have on their top 30 ATG list.
Near the top 30 I'd say.. Unifying 135 and beating Hatton, and you can make a case for him to be in the top 10..
