Pac doesn't need Hatton to cement his Legacy. Pac alraedy cemented his legacy when he battered OLDH. Hatton needs to fight Pac to cement his own legacy because it was tarnished when PBF KTFO him. That being the situation, he needs to give more leverage to Pac in their fight so it will push through. Nobody can guarantee that the Brits will buy a million+ PPV for their fight coz the last time i check, the world is on economic crisis including U.K. Pac is just asking a higher guaranteed purse because he has so much to loose in terms of reputation and very little to gain in fighting Hatton. Fans should understand that Pro-Boxing is a "Business." Business takes time to negotiate because their are details that need to be thresh out.

I'll guarantee it. Sky Box Office PPVs are half the price of HBO ones, hence economic factors are not such a factor. Expect to see the US PPV market depressed a lot more than Hatton's UK market.

15 quid just ain't that much, add in a few cans of beer and it's a cheap night in, considerably cheaper than going out.

Add in the fact that Hatton's profile in the UK has grown even bigger since he sold 1.4 million PPVs against Mayweather, and that what economic factors will have an effect on is the amount of people actually travelling to the fight, and you get over a million, easy.

I think Manny is doing all this because he has a lot of experience in business.

I remember a story he told a few years back. When he was in grade school, they were a very poor family, and he had to do something to put food on tha table, since he's the eldest of all the kids.

He borrowed money from loan sharks and used it to buy spices, wholesale. He and his family then repackaged those black peppers, garlic, bay leaves, etc. into small plastic sachets and sold it door to door. With the profits, they were able to buy their basic necessities.

And when he was already a boxer, he already had the mentality of a businessman. The next day after he fought for the WBC flyweight title in Thailand, versus Chatchai Sasakul back in 1998, the local Filipino announcers for the fight saw Manny shopping around for sunglasses, jewelry, clothes, packaged food and other Thai products. They asked him what he was doing, and Manny said he used a good portion of his winnings from the fight to buy stuff so that he can sell it back home, for a profit.

So, even if the guy never really had a proper education, he really knows what a certain product is actually worth, he knows how to sell that product, and he knows how much is the maximum price he can sell it for.

The product this time is Manny Pacquiao.

If he feels that Manny Pacquiao is definitely worth more than 50%, we cannot fault the man.

I think Manny is just playing some hardball and the split will end up somewhere near 55-45. In all honesty, I don't really care who gets what as long as this fight happens. I hope both parties realize that this fight is the best possible fight for both fighters and is one of if not THE biggest fight of 2009. Get it done already.

Kinda like a Slumdog Millionaire type, he came from the slums of the Philippines but he knows what he is doing from what he experienced about his past life. He needs the money for a reason, maybe for his charity? maybe for his running for congress or maybe for his future.

Multi-millionaire Manny Pacquiao: making a mint from his fellow countrymen (average annual family income US$3600) since 1998 :deal

You should watch it dude, It's an indian film but got a some awards at the recent Oscar. It's half funny(only on the start) and some weird love story drama at the end.... But the rolling of cast and credit sux... like most of the indian films...they have to do a dance and singing. Which kinda common to them, but really f*cks up the movie in the end.

I said, that was back in 1998. He was not a bigtime fighter back then.

That Thailand fight was his first ever major title match. He was also a poor person at the time, making a living through fighting, and making some extra dough selling imported stuff to his friends and neighbors back home.

He didnt get bigtime prize money until the mid 2000's.

Or maybe his gambling habit and his entourage of "yes" men?

is that gambling habit true ? Would make a bit of a mockery of that charity bollocks . That would explain a lot. He wants the extra 5% to bet on the horses .

    He does gamble.

I think cockfights and 9 ball pool matches. But who doesnt?

Many people bet on horses, boxing matches, football matches, etc.

It's hard earned, honest money. He can do whatever he wants with it.

He also earns money from product endorsements (Nike, local products etc.)

Yeah he can do what he wants but any notion he wants the money for charity is horse**** .
