Pacquiao matched former heavyweight champ Mike Tyson as the only fighter in pay-per-view history to generate at least one million buys for a fight in three consecutive years. HBO announced Tuesday that Pacquiao's one-sided battering of Antonio Margarito on Nov. 13 at Cowboys Stadium to win a vacant junior middleweight title -- his record-extending eighth -- generated at least 1.15 million buys and $64 million domestic pay-per-view revenue.

The number HBO reported is only an initial figure, with the total likely to rise once the buys are fully accounted for.

It's easier to set the record when you fight regularly. Much harder when "retired" or "on vacation."

    LOL at the spin.

PPV record "only person to sell 1 million PPVs in 3 straight years". You can twist any accomplishment into something bigger, here's the proof.

Headline should have been "Pacquiao fails to match Mayweather's PPV prowess"

Not really a "record"....but still impressive. PAC doing over a mill in PPV with Marg is pretty big considering A LOT of folks didn't buy the fight b/c they were boycotting Marg and his career after getting caught with the wraps...Plus...Marg and PAC are NOT US born fighters. Two NON US fighters doing over a mill says a lot about PAC's drawing power. Floyd's still the PPV king in terms of PRESENT, Un-retired boxers....but I somehow think NOT being P4P#1 hurts him a bit more. No one will be a bigger draw than DLH in his prime with regards to PPV#'s in the US.

You have to remember that Pacquiao has just broken American mainstream following. His stock is still rising. I expect his future fights to do even better.
