Not been on here for a few days, just wondered what the general consensus is on the fight. Personnally i thought it was another top performance by Pac, very impressive indeed , i could almost feel those bodyshots myself. Was disapointed with Clottey, it was obvious the head covered style wouldnt win him the fight early on but he just stuck with it, until he was too tired, bewildered and in pain i'd guess to do anything else. Full marks to Pac again though , the guy looks pretty unstoppable to anyone without a huge punch and i'd sway towards him in a pac v floyd fight on the basis of sunday mornings scrap. Mayweather will probably turn it on against Mosley though to sway me back. Pacquiao is undoubtedly one of the best fighters for many years. The guy is hard as ****ing nails ( incase you didn't know )
General Consensus outside *******s/Arum nuthuggers is: Clottey and Arum dicked the fans. Clottey didn't try and Arum created the worst card in the history of man kind and showcased that crap to 51K in person and who knows how many hundreds of thousands on PPV.
Thank god i only lost a few hours sleep and didn't have to pay for it. Shitty card. Pacman gets his due, he came to fight and fight he did. I don't know why people expected more from Clottey he's turtle shell defense was always going to be ineffective, in all his fights he isn't as active as he should be and it was because of that he lost to Cotto. Pacman gets hit too much though, when Clottey did punch he practically landed all the time, a better fighter (mayweather) will make Manny miss more and Manny will get punished for it.
I'm with you on Mayweather being a much better fighter than Clottey but does he hit harder ? I think not and Pac seems almost willing to get hit to create an opening. He took some hard shots and seemed unfazed. Very disapointing performance by Clottey really.I expected more from an obviously hard and proud ghanian . His gameplan was totally ****ed up.By the time he realised he needed a knockout to win his ribs had been pounded to **** by a mad philipino midget !
Ppl kill me when they say Mayweather doesn't hit hard enough. Ppl don't always get knocked out cause the other guy hits like Tyson. The last guy that thought Mayweather was feather fisted ended up running into a turnbuckle WWE style lol.
He may not hit harder, but his technique, timing and speed may feel like he does. Also if you're going in to hit a fighter and countering you'll feel the full brunt of the punch. I believe Mayweather has respectable power. As for willing to hit to create an opening, Mayweather won't be making such a mistake and will use all his advantages to his favour. One standout thing Mayweather does need to worry about is (besides his obvious speed and power) is Pacman's ability to throw endless amounts of punches and unless Mayweather can discourage Manny from throwing his punches he could be in for a long night. Oh and i don't know if Clottey had any tactics but to survive the full 12, which seems like a victory in it's own these days.
I realise that hitting hard isn't everything and that Mayweather is far superior to Clottey. I'm just trying to imagine a way to stop Pac when he simply walks through anything thrown while throwing hard, fast, accurate and extremely hurtful punches. I think what i mean is can even Floyd Mayweather keep him off .
This is the first PPV you idiots have been disappointed with??? Holy ****, you guys are lucky. I've paid for some awful 1 sided fights with horrible undercards. Way worse than this. I was so mad at the marquez/floyd fight. This one doesn't even touch that reem job.
I like surprises but unfortunately this match didn't produce any of it. What I expected for MP to do, he did. What I expected for Clottey to do, he did. I expected MP to win by UD, he did. I expected to get drunk while watching this fight and I did. Sigh.....no surprises.
