now let me first state, that i find pac´s style, much more thrilling and entertaining. as such his style, due to entertainment, perhaps seems more impressive.

some on this board, is really jumping the gun. eventhough pac took care of a belt holder in diaz, wasnt it the writing on the wall, from beginning to end..?

diaz went up against morales, a morales who was finished, the pac fights really showed, how far he decreased in his abilities. THAT VERSION OF MORALES, took diaz the distance, and did well.

my question is, why so much hype, why so much praise.. manny took care of an average opponent in a style, we know he is capable of.. this fight presented no surprises.

now to cal. joe surely didnt look impressive, but he won. he went up in a class, and didnt just take on a beltholder, but took on the number 1 guy in the division.

as said sure hopkins made him look bad, but who gives a **** really, joe took some shots, his tactics was evident, let hopkins counter 1, and ill hit with 2. it wasnt pretty, but he took care of business.

people are now claiming, that manny solidified his p4p nr 1 ranking, but is that really the case.?

both men went up in a new weightclass, whereas one took on the p4p ranked and lhw ring champion, and the other took on, an average belt holder.

so wouldnt it be much more fair to say, that joe with his hopkins fight, actually is closer to manny or maybe even surpassed him.?

In terms of skill yes, but Pac is more entertaining with letting those hands go and not all that 'defense' that Hopkins and those guys waste time on.

surely in the sport known, as the noble art of selfdefence, defending isnt a waste of time.

but winning against a guy, who had a high p4p ranking, numero uno at lhw, isnt that more impressive, then beating up and looking good against an average fighter..

at the top of their games they remind me of each other alot..

the difference being that, p4p, manny has much more power... and calzaghe has better head movement/better D..

BUT PAC IS THE NEW P4P KING BECAUSE: he has atleast 8 fights against future HOF's and Joe has 1 or 2 up till now.. how can you put joe above pac knowing that??

this coming from someone who probably likes Joe a little more...but i will like pac more if Joe doesnt fight pavlik... pac definatly has taken on the hardest fights throughout his career much like DLH, i hope joe will follow thier lead..

I'm a JC fan but Pacman is definately above him in p4p terms now, in terms of achievement okay Calzaghe is a 2 weight world champion, the undisputed super-middle champion and has been a champion for 10 years, but his resume lacks names and Pacman has faced the superior competition and is now a 5 weight world champion. Head to Head aswell I would pick Pacman, his skillset has really improved and he's got the power, JC is a very good boxer but in fairness his technique is awful, he gets away with it mainly of work-rate tbf.

    no.......

joe's been a world ranked fighter for over a decade and just recently started fighting quality opposition.....he's only fought 4 title holders Bernard Hopkins, Mikkel Kessler, Jeff Lacy, and Chris Eubank.........

while manny's beat atleast 6 world title holders.....and is a 4 division champ.... not to mention..... he's only 29 years old (or is he 30?)....compared to calzaghe at 36.....and on top of all that, the divisions manny has conquered were alot more crowded then the super middleweight division.....honestly, what great fighters did they have?....not to mention he has more wins and more ko's then calzaghe.....and he's as you said the more exciting fighter, and also more technically sound.....calzaghe's clearly no bum, but theres no way calzaghe would be ranked higher then manny......i mean i like both fighters, but it's obvious who's accomplished more in their respective careers......you gotta recongnize a monster when u see one

Tommy, Fire, and Monstar you guys took my words away. I definitely agree all the way. Pac #1 pound for pound and JC #2 hands down.

    hey hey easy now ;-)

im not saying that joe is above manny, what im saying is, that in light of their recent opponent, and their performances, do you actually think that manny solidified his nr 1 ranking.

some people are jumping on the band wagon, claiming that paq really proved something gainst diaz. whereas im saying, nothing surprising about pacs performance against an average opponent.

its like they are saying, that manny build on the lead, that he already had, in the p4p ranking, as oppose to me, i think joe with his performance gained ground on manny, so to speak.

oh well.... if you're in terms of there last opponets.... then yeah, joe beat the better guy.... even if he looked sloppy, a win over bernard hopkins holds alot more weight then a win over diaz.......although i wouldnt go as for to say as diaz was average....but still, yea you're right about that.... i dont think that his last fight put him at number one, nor solidified it.... it's just that, it was performance worthy of a pound for pound champion

alot of people forget but eubank wasnt even a title holder.. the wbo belt was a vacated paper belt...i think collins or bin vacated the wbo due to retirement

but he has held it 10 1/2 years now

the surprising thing was he was able to go up to his 5th division and may be at his best...

i dont think anyone thought he would retain ALL of his speed and power in yet another weight class...

that is why it was so impressive...

but if joe beats RJJ and Pavlik and manny doesnt impress against valerio and hatton, joe could take the top spot

Cal barely won against a very old Bhop and this was Cal's ONLY true win against a ATG.....Pac has wins over many ATG's and has consistantly faught the very best....no question on who deserves the #1 ticket.

It is better but it was also very clear that Joe faced a faded and far past his prime Bhop and given it was Joes' only career defining win aside from the faded Eubanks he beat in the late 90's there is nothing to warrant a #1 ranking on the P4P charts. He deserves to be on there with the win over Bhop but not above a guy who consistantly beats the best in not only his weight class but others.
