I've been wanting to see this fight ever since Pac said he was moving up to 135.. I would definitely love to see Pacquiao vs Nate Campbell, but if Guzman was to beat Campbell, then I'm all for that fight as well.. I just want to see Pacquiao unify the 135lb division.. A featherweight taking over the lightweight division by storm..
Interesting tidbit..... Nate has not officially signed the bout agreement yet for the Guzman fight, and WBO rules permit unifications to take precedence over mandatories. Legally, there is NOTHING stopping Pac vs. Campbell from happening on Nov 9, with the winner agreeing to fight Guzman next.
Ideally Nate would fight Guzman on August 2nd and then Pacquiao on Nov 9th but i can see how Campbell's team would not like to take that risk with such a major fight looming around the corner.
lol. It's not really up to us. It's up to Arum.....lol (but obviously we would have no problem with that scenario....lol)
problem is we couldnt get the aug 2nd date, as showtime already promised it to Darchinyan-Kirilov. We can only get Sept 13, which only allows 7 weeks of promotion if Pac's date is Nov 9. Probably not enough time. Plus, you never know if there will be any cuts, etc......
thats understandable :good what kind of money/split would your team be asking for in a potential fight between Pac and Campbell?
Hmmmm . . . interesting. Since Arum mentioned Campbell's name on top of the ring yesterday . . . . why don't you people exert some pressure on them to go for it. That would be a block buster.
I don't see any problem on that. It's only logical to dump a lesser fight for a bigger one. The only problem I can see is the sanctioning body treathening the belt holder of being stripped.
WBO rules permit unifications to take priority over mandatories, but if Pac-Campbell happened, the winner would have to fight Guzman next, or be stripped of the WBO. As for the split, obviously Pac is the bigger draw, and we would recognize that. If this fight doesn't happen, rest assured that the issue wasnt about money.
In this instance, "pressure" will accomplish absolutely nothing. All we can do is to let Top Rank know that we would be willing to bypass Guzman, and do the unification with Pac next, with no intervening bout. After that, it's all up to Top Rank. The fight either makes sense to them, or it doesn't, and no amount of "pressure" will change their decision.
that's good. pac can fight campbell on nov. and then take on hatton in march or april next year. i've heard that pac plans on retiring by the end of next year as roach will also hang the punch mitts then. i guess the teacher and pupil are riding off into the sunset together.
Pressure as in . . . like this. Press releases. :yep And yes . . . send them a formal letter informing them of your willingness to bypass Guzman. :good
