Pac Vs Clottey, anybody else not really interested?

People underrate or overrate Clottey when it's convenient for them, I guess. If Clottey pulls it together mentally, as in realizes he has to be a complete monster to even win a decision, he has all the physical tools to do it except maybe **** footwork, but everything else is there.

 

Clottey's work rate isn't half of Shane's output is. Shane will stay busy for 12 rounds and has better footwork. And Shane WAS very available for Pac, even begged him for a fight. Was willing to dry himself out to 140 and give Pac the much bigger purse. Pac pretty much ignored Shane to do business with a weathered Cotto. But I hear Pac's camp is interested in fighting Shane if he beats Mayweather. If that's true, I'd have to give Team Pac credit.

 

Clottey learned that lesson about 30 minutes too late when he fought Cotto. He finally realized there was no way he would have been able to get a decision against Cotto without being completely dominant. And he now realizes the same about Pac.

I expect him to fight with a lot more urgency, as Arum has turned his back on him one time too many.

 

If he'd just picture Arum's face on Pacquiao's head, he'd knock Pacquiao out in the first round.

 

I definitely see Aiken's point. I would laugh my ass off if Clottey won, and then we'd see Manny go crawling to Floyd needle in hand begging for a handout (after he loses the election... again). Regardless this ends bad for Manny. The only person winning in this situation is Arum.

Sadly Clottey hasn't had a KO since 2004 and I don't think he'll be busy enough to win a decision, but oh the possibilities!

Yeah I don't think Bob Arum is his favorite guy right now. He's probably a little thankful for the opportunity, but he's gotta feel like he's being sacrificed to "shut him up finally"

 

If Clottey uses his jab consistently I can see him being very competitive. For some reason people move away from the jab when it has been proven it works effectively against Pac. I won't bet the farm on Clottey to win. I think his style is tailor made for Manny. Clottey fought well against Margo, Cotto, and Corrales. But all those guys are flat-footed and will stay in front of you.

Aside from the physical standpoint, I'm not sure Clottey is determined enough to win. He's been having issues involving his trainer. He is showing too much respect for Pac (even went as far as saying he's a fan). That said, I tend to think he would bend over for Pac.

 

Man you are just realizing that is part of the Arum/Roach selection process? Every guy they fight lately has a busted corner.

DLH - No Mayweather Sr.
Hatton - Fired coach, crappy second
Cotto - Fired coach, horrible replacement
Clottey - No coach

Now you can't put that all on Pac, but the corner problems have been known in advance. Roach CAREFULLY matches his guys up. Even when they are "elite". At that level he should take all comers that make economic sense.

 

The bottom line is PAC bs clottey is the definition of cherrypicking PAC is fighting a slower less active cotto the same cotto who beat clottey whom was destroyed by PAC. Styles do make fights but clottey fights exactly like cotto which makes this fight a rip off and despite paca recent allegid transgressions this opponent selection is the most dissapointing paca resume isn't as sterling as people are making it out to be and this fight brings him back a notch

Clottey don't give a **** about no Pacman. At this point, Clottey would whip his own mama's ass if it meant spoiling Bob Arum's little money parade he has going on with Pac...

That is terrible news for him and to be honest terible news for us!

I hope he can put in a good performance inspite of this!

 

Clottey is a solid fighter and half of me wants him to win. The other half wants Manny to be handled by FMJ.

Clottey better put it all on the line in the first 8 rounds. If this goes to the cards he is losing. Point blank. They ripped him off against Cotto, they will double him up against Pac.
