I can really see this going either way. De La Hoya was a lot bigger and still had a nice skill set with all his amateur background, but he was still green and probably drained too. Similar to Pacquiao, De La Hoya seemed to take punches better as he went up in weight because he felt more comfortable at the weight, stronger legs, etc...By the time Pacquiao went to 130, he was already an experienced 3 division champion who had beaten great fighters like Barrera. Then again, I can easily see the much larger De La Hoya getting Pacquiao out of there as Pacquiao leaves himself open for a counter. I'm fence riding this one.
Great post:good . Pac is a seasoned vet while DLH would be green, but DLH always fought well against season vets. You couple that with DLH beating every brawler, slugger and puncher he's ever faced and the fact that DLH is much faster especially at those weights.
ODLH by late stoppage...especially against the pac thats fought recently: MAB: coming off a loss. Solis: previous three opponents (9-3, 6-1, 12-2) Morales: coming off two losses (3 of last 4)...looked flat and dare i say "shot". Larios: coming off a loss. Morales: coming off a loss (2 of last 3). Velazquez: previous 3 opponents (21-9-2, 1-6-0, 23-4-1) Morales: coming off a loss, but still beat Pac. 3k Battery: Enough said. Against a HUNGRY ODLH...i say ODLH late KO. The hungry Pacman that i used to love (not that Top Rank creation fighting people off losses) against a young hungry ODLH tough to call. I dunno...used to love Pac...never was a ODLH fan. But i see Oscar taming the beast at 132.
At 130, it's tough to say. Oscar was VERY green. With those extra couple of pounds, I side more with Oscar. This is just a terrible match stylistically for Pac. Oscar ate up every come-forward "brawler" type he ever faced, and I would favour him over nearly every one. He would have a massive size advantage (height, reach, weight on the night), his power at those weights was devastating, he was faster, more hungry etc. His only downfall down there was inexperience, and reliance on the left hand. Nonetheless, at 130 and 135, Oscar is a painful matchup for everyone. I would favour Oscar by mid-rounds TKO... again, ONLY because of styles and size. I think Pac is the better fighter at the weight.
With the way Pac moves, DLH would catch him on the way in with a monster left hook. I like Pac, but I don't think his chances would be great. DLH has big reach advantage and would be the taller fighter too, Manny would be punching upwards.
Okay Chimp boy. Oscar has 5 losses. Trinidad- Slugger- Robbery Mosley- Power Boxer- SD Loss/Robbery Hopkins- Tactician/Way bigger than Oscar-Loss Mayweather-Speedy tactician, defensive-SD Loss Vargas-Slugger/Boxer- TKO win Chavez-Brawler/infighter-TKO win x2 Mayorga-Wild brawler/slugger- TKO win Gatti-Brawler-TKO win Ruelas-Brawler-TKO win Trinidad-Slugger-Robbery
Spot on. When Oscar actually fought properly against Tito, he schooled him. Oscar's style is a nightmare for the come forward fighter. Again, Pac IS the better fighter at 130, this is a size and style issue.
DLH is one of my favorite fighters of all time [next to Foreman probably]. And yes, DLH takes this easy one. I'll say even by KO if not, an easy schooling.
Quite possibly. A green De La Hoya is a lot bigger than the likes of Barrera, Morales, Velasquez, Larios, and Solis.
I'm a pacman fan but the lower De La Joya to his ideal weight or any boxer for that matter the less power/potential will be. It will take out a lot of his strength and he will not be able to fight on his full potential. Despite De la Joya's skill and experience but if you tell him to go down to 132lbs then you are deminishing his Full potential! While pacman will be fighting close to his ideal weight then pacman could have a chance to win. Same case if you ask pacman to fight at 115lbs pounds then he can be beaten by somebody on that natural weight!
