how much do you think floyd will have deteriorated by next year? it is pretty safe to assume pac will still be at the apex of his career, but floyd will have serious inactivity issues, plus all the injuries he has suffered are already starting to take the toll. with another year off the fight vs pacman could be a step too far
haha ye. this is my main issue with the delay, both are now fighting at an absolute elite level, in a year things can change and the fight is dead :--(
floyd will be pretty much ok. it was shown that lay-offs doesn't affect him much. meanwhile, pacquiao will be in tough fights and this would be more detrimental for pac. maybe floyd is hoping that pac will deteriorate like mosley had because of years of war and fight pac only when he slowed down. if pac stays sharp and relentless as he was in the hatton, cotto and clottey fight, then floyd would not consider fighting him again next year.
i dunno ya know, you have a lot of faith in floyd's longevity, yes he hasnt taked much punishment in his career, but he has already had to adapt his style due to his age and injuries, a year off against arguably the best fighter in the world aint a good idea. i dont see pac having any problems over the next 12 month, he is in his absolute prime and probs will be for another year.
simple. floyd has the style for longetivity. he was not in as much wars as pac had. floyd is older but pac could have the older ring age since he started professionally at age 16. pac is more prone to deterioration based on his style. and pac is no longer in his absolute prime. he just looks like it because he still looked good and improved technically but he has actually slowed down.
he has the style, but he also has bad injuries, his legs arent what they once where, and he has now been made to sit down on his punches. he is still at an elite level, but he doesnt have the movement he once had. and i will polietely disagree with ya stetement about pac, he is fighting better now than he has ever done previously, his all round boxing game is at it's apex, this is why i would prefer to see the two fight this year.
honestly its Pac im worried about....i thik Floyd would be fine....Pac on the other hand i mean the guy has been in wars and he doesnt mind getting hit....i mean there are talks of his retirement now so you never know....one more tough tough fight and he may feel he needs a break and rightfuly so.....i'll say this.....if Floyd were to try and fight Pac in 2011 and Pac wasn't up to it....i couldnt blame Pac... I think 2010 it should have happened twice they were fresh off of great wins appeared to be in top performing condition this was the year....im not sure about the future though. still would love to see it no matter what.
yes this year would definitely have been ideal cos we all KNOW theya re in top shape. next year it becomes a guessing game, who knows they could still both be top, but there is always that slight chance.......
well we just have to disagree on pac. but i agree with you that the fight should happen now. both fighters will deteriorate no matter what in 2011. but it would be better over-all for floyd to have a rest than for pac to have one more grueling fight against cotto or margo. about floyd, he still looks good vs jmm and he don't need to use his legs much against mosley who had gassed after a few rounds. he would have to use them against pac and we will see if you and roach are correct that his legs are now gone.
The fight needs to happen now. A lot can change in a year. Floyd's jsut waiting Pac out. If Pac looks amazing in his next fight, you better believe Floyd's not gonna jump in the ring with him. He'll at least look for a another tune-up fight and delay the fight further.
i really do believe that bout floyd, he will rely mor on walking down opponents and firing quick hard combos now. him and pac is a complete 50/50 right now. but in a year, as you say pac might have a brutal war and not recover, or as i say floyd might age too much. hopefully neither will happen and the fight still be as big.
