To add to what Cellz831 said. Pac's "improvements" are actually his shortcomings against a fighter like Marquez. Nacho Berinstain mentioned this as well. Pac is more selective about his punches now. He let his hands go more in the earlier fights. Marquez was forced to exchange more then, which led to the KD's. The "new" Pac tried to out think a thinking fighter, and he appeared more tentative and predictable than in their past meetings.

Of course he has slowed a bit since they met for the second time 3 years ago. He's gone up in weight and aged. So, it's natural. But, the excuse of being slower I'm referring to is the one used from fight to fight when he looks bad. Against Margarito, whom he boxed circles around, he is 'greased lighting', against Mosely, who he can't cut the ring off on, he's "slow" with cramps. Against Marquez, who he can't cut the ring off on, he's "slow" with cramps. These fights are not that far apart.

Well said. But the main reason why they (Most Pacquiao Fans) can admit it, is because they don't know a DAMN THING about Boxing. As one poster put it....these MF's were not even watching Boxing 3 years ago. Thats why they all post about the same thing: "Pacquiao is great, Mayweather is gay". If these guys were Boxing Fans, they'll be chiming-in with opinions about other fighters, divisions, amatuers, match-ups..etc. But they are slowly vanishing...THANK GOD!!!

These are not convincing alternative accounts. Marquez had to wait around for 3.5 years and climb the scales to get the third fight with Pacquiao. The deck was fully loaded in Pacquiao's favor in this fight, and the only reason it happened at all was because Arum had no credible in-house opponents and Marquez was finally a free agent. Turning this into a story of brave Pacquiao wanting to aim higher and higher is nothing more than revisionist history; it's clear that money as always was the main concern here.

Nevertheless Pacquiao still took the fight. He could have ducked JMM. And for the record I know Marquez is going to give Pacquiao problems going into that fight. Never bought the hype.

 

I'm not convinced Pac is so past his physical peak that he can't be competitive, but I will be sad if he comes in looking uninspired and passive against Floyd when it finally happens.
