o haha I get yeah know an in all of the Pac Marquez fights apart from the last everybody see's them differently I just think its the fighting styles people like if you like pac's you tend to give it to him an if you like Marquez's the same but know fight was a robbery in my opinion they have all been close fights that could have went either way

yeah I know  but that's mostly just the fan boys who support one guy so blindley so they hate anyone that was ever a threat to there man but there is still some people you can have proper conversations with about boxing.

I'm sorry, why should media members' scorecards be taken as reflective of reality on this fight? Hell anyone who follows boxing knows most reporters who cover it regularly suck at scoring (see: Rafael, Mannix, Kim), but we're supposed to accept their opinions, as well as geniuses like Skip Bayless, as carrying any sort of authority? Why should these results be given more weight than a poll here where a mere quarter had Pacquiao winning?

I'm not here to argue the decision but people on a internet forum aren't more credible and reliable then others. You can sift through posts on this board and read things like Mathebula beat Donaire, Marquez beating Pacquiao in the fourth fight is debatable, Klitschko has never lost a fight, I can go on but I would be here for a while.

The exact same point applies to boxing writers and people who don't even follow the sport. Citing their opinion as a better reflection of what transpired in the ring or carrying any special sort of authority is what I object to.

Marquez's footwork really cut Pacquiao's offense right down that night, and Pacquiao had far too much respect for his abilities as a counter-puncher to really get too ballsy. It's probably the most boring fight (in terms of sustained action, at least) and least effective performance from Pacquiao of the four fights. Marquez is just always a step out of range for Pacquiao to reach.

I remember feeling quite vindicated by Marquez's performance due to the fact that I seemed to be in a fairly small minority of people on the boxing forums who actually felt that Marquez was still capable of giving him fits. I never thought there had been a dramatic enough decline in him or a significant enough improvement from Pacquiao - in the three years between fights two and three - for it to be anything other than a difficult night for Pacquiao.

Broken record time again. I gave the first two fights to manny pretty widely because a) he initiated action b) both fighters blocked a lot of shots c) when he got hit cleanly, he hit Marquez back right away for the most part, too, and even though Pac looked WAY sloppier, he was the aggressor. In the second fight, Marquez had him hurt and didn't do a damn thing with him, just looking at him. If Pac doesn't come forward, JMM can't do anything. Manny always made the action, would land a shot, get countered twice, then land another shot, and most of the exchanges were dead even that way, with sloppy manny jumping around and JMM looking poised, but not actually landing more cleanly.

The third fight was different - JMM landed all the telling shots. I love the guy who makes the fight, who comes forward, who is always Manny in their fights. I think I had the third fight 7-5 for JMM but I could probably be convinced into giving it a draw for Pac because he takes ALL the risks and actually lands a lot of shots, so you are really scoring for whether you like a guy who looks composed or a guy who looks wild.

The fourth fight I was so happy after the third round, Pac had finally gotten Marquez to clearly lose rounds. ****. ARGHGHGHGHGHGHGH. Damn you Cortez. How highly would Manny be rated if he had stopped that first fight and the rematches never happened? A ref's decision permanently impacted a fighter's legacy almost as severely as the Taylor-Chavez and Benn-McClellan fight (though of course not as much as that last one).

i dont think stopping the first fight would have been a bad call by cortez .. no one would have hung **** on him for it, but looking back on it now he was right to let it go (and marquez dident seemed dazed or genuinly hurt by the knockdowns).

its funny to think what opponents pacquiao would have faced instead of marquez x3 after the first

there are a few names o the list that i don't respect the scoring, and yes Skip is one of them.

but at least they all probably scored the fight.

The problem with polls on here is a high % of people don't actually score fights, they just go of instinct at the end of the fight who they thought won.

You can take your views from ESB if you like, but i'd rather listen to boxing reporters who spend there life/career covering the sport.

and also this was posted to counter an argument.

I mentioned i didn't think marquez did enough for people to cry robbery. And someone replied calling me a ******* saying how can it not be a robbery when most of the media scored it for Marquez.
