Jones took plenty in the first Tarver fight. I don't think others question this at all about him. He took plenty in the first Griffin fight.

My point was that Jones had never been seriously hurt before either. And thought JMM has not, it doesn't mean he won't.

I am not going to argue Jones vs JMM with you as a fighter. I don't think they are the same level of fighter, as Jones accomplished more. I also don't buy the myth that he isn't skilled. Otherwise, he would have been hit far more don't you think? Either way, it's not about Jones and JMM. I think Pacquiao is going to win the fight, you think JMM is. There is no point in arguing one way or the other since neither of us will change our minds.

I will take JMM for close UD. JMM will outbox Pac and counterpunch the hell out of his chin when he comes in. LMAO to the people saying that JMM will fade in the later rounds :nut

JMM had the ablity to outbox PAC, but it should be a war!

Not worth $60 though, Hell, I just payed $60 for Pavlik/Taylor fight.

You brought up Roy Jones, and unfortunately you as a fan of his had to hear the truth.

Never, has Roy Jones dug himself from the bottom when in an adverse situation.

To tell you the truth, I dont think we both want to get into a Roy Jones debate, imo Roy Jones and JMM are exactly the opposites as far as career opportunities and paths......

Roy Jones his whole career was in a position to call the shots and fight whomever he wished, he spent the better part, quite frankly his prime fighting Policemen and garbage truck drivers.....

JMM was quite the opposite, he was never in position to call his shots, in fact, most champions went out of their way to avoid him.

To be blunt, both Jones and Marquez waisted their primes, the only difference was the Jones did it by choice.

The only point I was making previously was that Jones chin was never truly tested, as his reflexes were insanely superfast and quick.
......the moment he lost some of that speed and quickness, and he found himself all of a sudden having to take some shots because of it, we saw the shell he went into in the first Tarver fight......he wanted to prove that was a fluke and got KTFO in a rematch......

I'll just leave it at that. JMM chin has been battle tested, there are no signs that his legs stiffen up or turn to jelly when he gets hit.
The same cannot be said of Roy Jones!

You being a JMM fan need to hear the truth then. It was the choice of JMM to turn down the rematch to fight Pacquiao years ago. It was this choice which has caused him to labor in obscurity. He has been in position to make money and get notoriety. His own choices cost him that notoriety.

As far as Jones goes, I find your take interesting in that it doesn't include the facts in their totality. Jones wasted his prime fighting policeman and garbage truck drivers? One, I didn't realize Jones' prime lasted 2 fights. Two, the garbage man is a former Lineal LHW champion and was unbeaten and ranked in the Ring top 10. Seems like the garbage man had some skills. On top of this, it's very easy to pick out the weak links in a resume, (Polo, Solido?) So next time you'd like to belittle Jones, a superior fighter to your favorite, who fought much better competition than JMM ever has, make sure you get everything out, not just the parts that favor your argument. Your take on Jones seems to leave out quite a bit of the top level fighters he faced so you can focus on the bad ones he faced. If we did the same with JMM, I assure you that we could find some part time fighters. All fighters have them on their record. So you're right, I don't think you want to get into a Jones vs JMM debate with me. Frankly, your backing the wrong horse in that argument. As for Jones going into a shell, well I know you scored that fight for Tarver, but you know you're in the minority on that. Jones didn't shell up then, nor did he shell up when Griffin was taking 4 of the first 8 rounds off of him. Jones had been tested before. If you would like to start a JMM vs RJJ debate, we can start another thread and I will happily join you there.

My point in mentioning Jones is that there is a first time for everything. JMM has been down, he can be hurt like any other fighter, and I think Pacquiao is going to do that. That's my take on the fight. You have yours.

Nope, I'm not going to get in a tat for tat Jones debate with you.

The truth is that you lit a fire under me when you mentioned Jones getting KO'd, why not JMM???

I just dont think that was a good parralel on your part....Jones reflexes were so great that he never got hit clean on the chin by a shot that mattered for most of his career.
In other word, Jones chin was never put to the test by a puncher, Montell Griffin was far from a puncher.

I agree this is not the thread to argue and compare Jones to JMM, they both have their strong points and both are or were great fighters, I never said Jones was'nt.....
.....but please, its been proven....JMM's chin is battle tested, yes he's been hit but gotten right back up unfazed and unrattled.
There are no signs what so ever that he cant take a good shot.

......my point was that there was always an unknown cloud hanging over if Jones could take a shot if it came down to that, since Jones rarely if ever had gotten hit hard on the chin by someone with the capability to put his lights out.
Jones chin was'nt really truly tested by a hard puncher until he tasted Tarver, then came Johnson who is'nt even a puncher but Jones was so badly eroded not just physically but mentally that Johnson laid him out.

.....or are you going to tell me kg, that Jones took better shots than
    JMM has through their careers!

Please, JMM come up from 3 knockdowns and boxed a masterclass against a destroyer like Pac.....
......got hit clean right on the whiskers against MAB, got nailed while he was down.....cool, calm and collected, got up and proceeded to do what he had been doing before the knockdown.

Please, there is absolutely no signs what so ever that JMM's chin is going to betray him vs Pacquiao.....
....again, there was always that unknown about Jones before the Tarver KO, but that just is'nt the case with JMM.

If you dont agree with that, well we'll just have to agree to disagree my friend!

The first knockdown may have been a flash, but to say the second and third were as well is quite a stretch. Marquez definitely lost his legs when Pacquiao connected and sent him down the second and third times.

I think Marquez was the more worn-out fighter after those 12 rounds, and he was worn out--by PacMan.

The parallel was that there is a first time for everything. Just because it hasn't happened doesn't mean it won't happen. Morales took hellacious shots throughout his career as did Barrera. Any fighter can be stopped.

Yes you are right, Morales was one tough sob.....
.....but I believe from reading your prior posts that you agree that all the signs were there that Morales was on a fast spiral down to
    decayence.
Morales' previous fights had showed that there was significant errosion in alot of his physical attributes.

If Marquez has eroded some, it is by no means to the extent that Morales has.
I still have'nt seen JMM outboxed, and he's still fighting 3 minutes of every round.
It would be a shocker to me that he be a shot fighter overnight in the Pacquiao fight.
