It wouldn't matter. Pac weighed 149 against Oscar? Floyd on fight night at 147 weighs 147! Only against Oscar did he weigh 150.. but anyway... If they fought at 140, they would just cut some water weight and pack it all back on. If they fought at 147 they would just naturally weigh in. Maybe Pac would cut a little.
140 is too much, 145 maximum. We all saw what happen to Hoya and Hoya fought at 147? against Forbes. He maintained his weight throughout the year and was shot, he possibly burned some muscle. 7 pounds of water weight is a lot. 147 Mayweather brutally beats Pacquiao, thats why Roach doesn't want it at that weight.
Why is it fair to Manny if he has to go up to 147? If you want fairness a catch weight at 141 is fair to both fighters. 6 pounds over Manny's 135 and 6 pounds under PBF 's 147.
Pac just beat Dlh up better than Floyd while fighting at 147, and you Pac fans want Floyd to come down to 140??? Floyd will not fight PAc at any weight lower than 147.
Considering that Pac is naturally 135lb fighter right now as he has just moved up to that weight, Floyd is 147lb, why not meet halfway in 140lb. Most consider Floyds best weight 140lb anyways and he is too small for 147...Pac most definitely is too small for 147.
lol @ Pac & Roach trying to gain advantage by making DLH drop 1 weight class. Because jumping up 2 weight classes is not a big disadvantage for Pac at all. hahaha.
Yeah, we all saw the effects of Dlh coming down in weight. Dlh goes to war with the likes of Ike, Tito, Pea, and other strong WW's, and PAc is the only one to stop 35 year old Dlh at 147 lol. Give us a !#$!$ break lol...
Too small for 147? I don't get it. Pac just beat Dlh up at 147? So wait, are you admitting that Dlh was **** at 147, and that PAc beating him wasn't a good win, or it was a good win over Dlh at 147...I don't get it.:rofl Floyd's best weight was not 140. PAc fans want Floyd to strain making 140 lol.
I know lol...and they want Floyd to come down to 140...for what? Pac fans, your man just so-called annihilated Dlh:nut. They must realize that the Dlh was past his prime, and that his fight with Dlh was only a money fight.
This is crazy talk. Roach said after the DLH fight that Pac will stay at 140. Sure Pac could make 135 but why should he fight there if in a good year or so it will be time to move up once again. Pac fighting a guy who weighs in at 147 doesn't mean a move up necessarily. He weighed in at 142 for DLH and I doubt will ever weigh in at 147 for a fight. A 147 limit for Floyd is the all around fair thing to do. Floyd won't be 100% weighing in any less than 145 so it just goes to show team Pacquiao is looking for any advantage they can get. Floyd spent two years at 147 and hasn't had to weigh in at 140 for four years. He is going to hurt himself making any sort of catchweight and won't be 100%. Just because he's a smallish WW doesn't mean he can do it comfortably and be at his best years later. He moved up in weight for a reason and if he could have stayed at LW or JLW he would have. Reason being why he didn't remain at 154 after DLH, 147 is ideal for Floyd and in 2009 making 140 runs the risk of Floyd not being 100%. Pac is in no way at a disadvantage in this fight. Maybe a size disadvantage but wasn't that the case with Diaz? Moving up to 130 and fighting Morales after beating Barrera and JMM? You can't have it both ways. If that's the case Pac has been doing just fine moving up and constantly being outsized by opponents. My only point is that Pac is at no disadvantage coming into the fight. Pac has filled out as a 140 and Roach plans to keep him there. Is he at a size disadvantage against Hatton? Nobody told Hatton he had to come in at 147 and neither would Pac. Mayweather will be at a disadvantage weighing in less than 147.
Good post. When you are fighting for greatness, you can't ask a guy to come in at a certain weight. Greatness is achived by fighters who do the impossible. Ali didn't ask Foreman to hit him lighter than he hit other guys, Ali went out and punches foreman in the mouth. Duran didn't ask Leonard to slow down and fight...he took the fight to Sugar from round 1. Arguello stood in there and tried to achieve ring immortality against Pryor. Hopkins beating Tarver at 175 and cementing his greatness. Tito tried to beat Hop at 160. The list goers on and on for guys who tried to become great. Most guys even in loss came away with great respect by the fans. How do I know? I remember a guy from Pittsburgh who tried to take away Joe Louis's title, and almost won. Does the "Pittsburgh kid" get respect to this day?
