    eraser,

very true but do you actually think roach would have let pacquiao fight oscar if oscar was an active fighter and the same age as pacquiao? i say no way he lets pacquiao fight oscar if oscar was in his prime like pacquiao is.

lmao at bums:rofl beating hatton is better than beating a 37 yrs old casamayor. Lol @ bums... hatton was the linear champ at 140 and now he is fighting cotto who is currently rank # 2 at welterweight.

Delahoya was a money fight so i can't blame pac for taking that fight even though the majority of the fans and many boxers pick oscar to beat pac.

Obviously not. That's why I said the fight was solely for Pacquiao's chance to gain large mainstream exposure and lots of money just from being a part of the fight. This fight wasn't about a challenge at all, the price was certainly more than right.

    belfort,

yeah, the vast majority of the fans DID think oscar would beat pacquiao but they DIDN'T think oscar would come in weight drained and stumbling all over himself.

and look, that hatton win was impressive but the early signs of deterioration of him were there for everyone to see. his last 9 fights starting with the kostya tszyu fight weren't very impressive. first:

kostya tszyu - great win on paper but tszyu was already a 36 year old fighter. a great example of a young lion overwhelming an old one.

carlos maussa - this guy was ko'd by victor ortiz in one round for christs sakes and it took hatton 9 rounds to do it.

luis collazo - collazo won this fight and you and i know it. hatton received an early christmas present.

juan urango - anybody with any boxing skills can beat this guy. this guy is as methodical as you can get. totally average fighter.

jose luis castillo - there is no doubt in my mind that a prime castillo beats up on hatton. however, castillo was old and washed up by the time hatton got to him.

mayweather jr. - the first truly great, in his prime fighter knocks hatton out and exposes him for what he really is. a good above average fighter but hardly great fighter with many, many flaws.

juan lazcano - a semi-retired lazcano had hatton hurt a couple of times. not to mention that lazcano came up in weight to fight hatton. not an impressive win at all.

paul malignaggi - a very out of shape and uninspired paulie called it in when the going got tough. again, not a great win.

manny pacquiao - a very good win but maybe not as great as it might seem. sometimes performances can be deceiving to the eye. besides, hatton was on the downslide when pacquiao got to him.

He didn't fight the best at 140...that's just your opinion.

because pacquiao beat hatton, supposedly the best at 140 automatically quality him to beat everyone in the division at 140 without ever fighting them? people, this is boxing. nothing is ever a gimme in boxing. fighters have different styles, different punch absorption. some are tougher than other. hatton may have had the RING title but so what, without him ever fighting the likes of timothy bradley, marcos maidana and kendall holt doesn't make him the best because he never beat them. and frankly, i don't think hatton's team would have let him fight the likes i just mentioned.
