Pacquiao has no business at JMW, and while Vargas is hardly the greatest JMW of all time he is more than good enough to hold his own against the best.

This matchup implies Pacquiao has proven he can take on good JMW when in reality the only reference we have is a bogus matchup for a catchweight title.

This is not hating on Pacquiao for the sake of hating on Pacquiao but let's be realistic here and ground ourselves with some logic.

Vargas by TKO in 10 rounds. Pac can be extremely elusive, but as the two boxing cliches go "you can run but you can't hide" and "a good big man usually beats a good little man" (NOTE: Most level-headed people consider Pacquiao great, but Vargas is good enough to trouble him).

Except Vargas never threw the jab like he should have. He had a good one when he used it but rarely commited to it the way he would have to to make it a significant tool against Pac, IMO.

This is just stupid and just hating.

BTW, I'm taking Vargas on this one since Pac is unproven at 154 and has no business fighting at that weight in the 1st place.

Vargas. He's such a balanced fighter compared to pac. And the better fighter at 154. Wouldve been a great fight though. I'm not sure if he could stop pac. he probably would stop him in the late rounds

Pac wins a very tough fight. Too fast and accurate for El Feroz.

Manny has a good and underated defense. When an offensive fighter like Pac opens up as much as he does, of course he is open to be hit just like anyone else who is throwing punches. Just because Pac doesn't have Floyd's defense doesn't mean he's awful at defense. Just because Floyd doesn't have Pac's offense doesn't mean he has an awful offense.

I'd pick Vargas. Way too strong and powerful with good speed. Not to mention he had real killer instinct and bad intention.

I think people are used to seeing vargas when he was **** and slow and fat. When he was young at 154 he had really good boxing ability as well. I would pick him to beat pac. Yeah he got stopped by tito but he dropped him too and tito was a monster puncher.

after watching that I am even more confident of a vargas win probably stoppage, his speed was better than I remembered. Not only is he a big 154 pounder, but he has good speed and power and skills, he would catch pac with some monster shots

He never suggested that though. From what I get he simply means vargas of that time period, when he was young and prime.

@154 Vargas, Tito and ODLH in their primes are greater than Manny! And I would even consider Tito and ODLH at 147lbs in their primes better than Manny too! Pac is fast but Vargas at 154lbs was a monster specially in his prime. Pac has only fought ONE time at 154bls, which he didn't make the weight, so putting him in with Vargas at that weight is murder.

Although I like Trinidad too I think if it wasn't for the low blow that he gave to Vargas in their fight, the fight could of have a diffrent outcome. Not saying Vargas would of won but maybe it would of gone to the cards and been more competitive than it was already.
