He's already proven to be a great fighter. That is not even up for discussion. What PAC has done is beat guys who are bigger, who were legit top fighters and did so in dominating fashion. Can he beat TOP WW's given the fact he is without question the smaller man....as great as he is? That is still a question mark. At some point, fighters who look for challenges above their natrual weights will hit a wall. 140 maybe it for PAC. Facing Cotto at 147, 145 or 144 is a HUGE test and one Cotto can very well win. But to claim that "YOU" think PAC hasn't proven greatness is just showing you are a complete Cotto fanatic. You can like one guy more than the other and be a true fan of the sport. Both guys are great for boxing.....one is builiding a great legacy and one has cemented his already.

For the record I would prefer for this to go down at 147, would be ok with 145, but would be just as disappointed as everyone else if Team Pac demanded 143.

But I'm not going to go and lose my mind unless these were actual demands and with the possibility of putting this fight in jeopardy. Not yet at least.

I aknowledge his greatness but he ain't champ material at 140 - 147 like Armstrong was, I am a Cotto fan, but he should not have asked to fight Cotto if he was going to start acting like a little ***** about it.

is that too much to ask?

Don't put someone's name in your mouth if you ain't about it. This is boxing when someone says they want to fight someone, that is expressing interest in making a fight happen. Which is what Cotto did. Which is What Manny did in saying to his promoter to make the fight. This is a "MUTUAL" thing between Cotto and Manny. They BOTH want it. The problem is making a FAIR agreement with at what weight!

Cotto can beat PAC! No doubt. he can beat him soley on his Size, power and strenght advatage he'll hold on fight night. No matter if the fight is 143 to 147. But the fact remains PAC is a more dynamic fighter with a lot of natural talent and gifts which allowed him to move up in weight so much and be successful over the yrs.

The fight is a fair fight at 145 where Cotto is comfortable with that weight....PAC is NOT a 147 pound fighter, so why not agree to Cotto's suggested weight given both men will have their advantages.

I agree with that.....PAC hasn't proven to be GREAT at 147, nor at 140 although he did beat the TOP Jr WW and I don't see any other Jr WW who would be as good or as tough as Shane, Cotto, Josh or Marg who fight at WW.....They also have the bigger names. And PAC has been CHASING the BIG fights and less worried about Belts.

PAC has got to give a little in order to be mentioned with the names of Hank Armstrong or Duran, Robinson ect... And Guys like Floyd, shane and Cotto (should he win, and at a fair weight) could give him that. I don't think he can beat all of those guys at WW. But he has a chance.

I just want to see Cotto and PAC agree to 145! Make the fight and show us who the better man is. I always....or most of the time lean towards the more technically skilled fighter like when Floyd fights....I always choose him. I think PAC holds that advantage over Cotto, but Cotto is a VERY GOOD fighter who could really show the world he's going to be great by beating a GREAT fighter. Cotto needs this and so does PAC.

And NO....I don't think it is too much for PAC to agree to the weight and stop going back on what his trianer said would be fair.

No I don't have him mixed up. As soon as the DLH fight was over Cotto was one of the fighters to mention Pacquiao as a possible opponent he would like to face but NOT below 145. By the way, it was Arum who openly stated he invited Pacquiao over to watch that fight since he had plans for Cotto/Pacquiao if all went well. So whether Cotto looked too good or bad it was still in plan if he came out victorious.

    Carefully chosen opponents?

He was a huge underdog going in against DLH, completely overlooked in that one with many picking him to get KO'd as early as round 3 with some being kind enough to say round 5. If that's carefully chosen to you then you need a lesson. Of course it's easy to claim you "knew it will happen" now that it's over, self proclaimed gurus are all over this place anyway.

If Hatton, the best at 140 since 2005, is a carefully chosen opponent then who was a better opponent at 140?

You need to catch up on things. BEFORE the DLH fight happened Roach made it clear it will be their ONLY fight at 147 and will go down and STAY at 140. They're not doing anything "surprising" here with Cotto, at least they're considering the fight.

You and bronx are the two extremities. One is the pac nuthugger the other the Pac hatter :). I mean - saying that Pac is coming 30 pounds is too much. Like this Oscar also came 20 pounds to fight Vargas this is bull**** it doesn't matter what weight you start your carreer at. It's normal that you grow up. In his last match Pac was a full grown JWW.And Bronx you are hating the Pacman too much :). I mean this is some sucpicious information. For Cotto to come down to 145 should't be such a big problem. He was 146 for his last fight. He can make one pound without dying I suggest. But 143 he won't go to that weight and Pac and Roach know it very well. So everything else is speculation :).

Yeah I picked De La Hoya but who expected him to look like a corpse?:patsch

    Who did you pick Scar?

And 145 is cool with me but it should be 147 if he has cojones

And Ricky was the the best 140, but not the same fighter that fought Kostya Tzyu in 2005, he was almost KO'd by Collazo (feather fisted) and Lazcano (shot fighter) come on now.:verysad

Beating great fighters is what makes you great! And PAC has done just that. And Dominating VERY GOOD FIGHTERS makes you great, which PAC has done as well.

PAC hasn't hand picked his fighters...he's LOOKED for the biggest and best challenges he could find and moved up in weight when he wanted bigger and tougher challenges. DLH whether he had business or not at 147 the fight was still made and DLH was by far the betting favoriate. PAC wasn't given a chance and yet he dominated.

Nacho who trained DLH said DLH was fine with the weight, he was in prime condition but he faught the wrong fight and PAC's dynamic fighting style gave him more problems than they expected. Everyone or anyone can come up with excuses after a loss.

Hatton was the man at 140....PAC destroyed him...And again, most didn't give PAC a chance to beat PAC. So after PAC beats and dominateds Everyone is all the sudden "SHOT". It's a convienent excuse. Floyd had to deal with the same BS, but guys in their position should take that as a compliment. B/c no matter how many times you prove greatness there are always detractors or haters spinning **** to discredit accomplishments in the ring. All the greats had the same problems.

I got your points and most of them are valid. But there is one difference between the Oscar and Hatton fights. We were never sure if Hatton was that good , so yeah maybe he gave his best and was still K.O by Pac. But I watched most of Oscars fights and that wasn't the real Oscar. It was not only Pac dynamics in this fight. Oscar was just shot. This of course is not Pac's problem. He came in amazing condition and maybe was going to beat even not so faded Oscar like the one from the Floyd fight. I don't think he beats Oscar from the Mosley fights and his good period at WW
